Twinkl – a wealth of downloadable resources at the click of a button – AD gifted

Disclosure:  I was given the premium access upgrade for the purpose of this review, however, my opinions remain my own honest thoughts

I was recently asked by Twinkl to have a look at their website and share my thoughts.  So, who are Twinkl?

logoWell, Twinkl offer over 60,000 hand drawn downloadable resources which are used by primary schools and other educational settings all over the UK and beyond.  They also have a section dedicated to help us, parents, where you can find some really great sheets to download offering all sorts of inspiration.

The majority of resources are free to download from the site, or you can upgrade to the premium service for £29.99 per year, to access a further 10,000 resources which complete the portfolio.  Without subscribers, Twinkl wouldn’t be able to offer the wonderful resources they do, so I chose this upgrade so I could view the entire selection available.

My son is 3 and a half and I’m always looking for ideas to help me to help him with his speech, and, as time goes on, with his reading and writing – well I’ve found the perfect one-stop-shop.  For example, there is a wide range of educational guides to help us parents teach our children to read using phonics, as well as lots of information as the children progress through school.  I can see myself using Twinkl for some years to come.

Here are some of the resources I’ve been looking at today; reward charts, all printable at the click of a button, flashcards (Twinkl call them communication cards) and emotion cards, both great ideas for children like my son who take their time to talk.  I also discovered some great worksheets to help with pencil control and cutting control – great ideas that I would never have thought of myself.  There are loads of colouring sheets – every theme you could ever think of (so great for those of us who have zero imagination or artistic skills!), and then I discovered the Dot-to-Dot Dinosaurs – oh yes, I do recommend this site 🙂

There is so much to look at on Twinkl for junior school children, but I focused on his age group and once I’d finished in the Parents Section, I decided to have a quick look at one of the Topic Areas – Spring….

birdy(1)Once again there was so much to take in – I loved the flashcards (word cards) showing all sorts of things you see during the Spring – blossom, buds, grow, frogspawn and tadpoles.  Lots of ideas to improve his vocabulary.

We’re currently trying to help him with his number recognition and I was thrilled to find a whole series of number cards with Spring themes – 1 Lamb, 4 Butterflies etc.

I could go on and on but I’d rather you go and have a look yourself – you will be impressed and I’m sure you’ll find lots to keep you and your printer busy 🙂 and I bet, you too, will upgrade to the full premium service.
