Paper Dolls – AD part of a review

disclosure: this post relates to a future review post

How would you like to be involved in a world record-breaking attempt?? whilst also helping a really worthwhile cause?  You may remember that I recently wrote a post in support of the Enough Food for Everyone IF…. campaign for Save the Children.  Well, PanMacmillan is celebrating the launch of The Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson and Rebecca Cobb, by attempting to break the world record for the world’s longest ever chain of paper dolls!

We are going to donate 10p for every doll submitted to support Save the Children’s ‘Enough Food for Everyone IF….’ campaign, which highlights a global literacy crisis caused by poor nutrition.  Julia is acting as an ambassador for this campaign

…… it doesn’t matter how young or old, we need all the help we can get …. Our chain of dolls needs to be a whopping 3kms long – this is 60 lengths of an Olympic sizes swimming pool …. 11,500 A4 sheets of dolls!

If you’d like to get involved you can visit Paper Dolls World Record where you can download paper doll templates to colour in, see who the record attempt is going and see lots of information about this world record attempt.  You can either post your completed dolls back by 28th August 2013 to:

Pan Macmillan Children’s Books, Paper Dolls World Record Attempt, 20 New Wharf Road, London, N1 9RR

or you can email them back – the details are on the Paper Dolls World Record website.

My son and I have challenged his NCT group to colour in some Paper Dolls over the next week so we can get them all posted back to London in time.  One thing to remember – when attaching the paper dolls together – the dolls must be connected by both hands and feet for the world record attempt to stand.

Make sure you write your child’s name and school on the back of your dolls for a chance to be entered in to a draw to win a piece of Rebecca Cobb original artwork and a chance for your family to go to the record attempt event!

Why not tweet @panmacmillan and show them your artwork as it progresses – use #paperdolls

This is such a worthwhile cause, we can all have some fun and somewhere in the world a child in need will be helped.  Easy!

ps.  I’ll be reviewing The Paper Dolls by Julia Donaldson and Rebecca Cobb shortly in a separate post and will let you know how we get on with our dolls here.
