Justin’s World Apps

I’ve mentioned before that we’re big fans of Justin Fletcher here.  Monkey loves watching Justin’s House and Gigglebiz. Now that the old techno dinosaur AKA Me, is getting her head around the world of Apps when we heard about Justin’s World Apps we just had to have a look.

The Justin’s World Apps are aimed at children aged 2-6 years, so perfect for Monkey who will be 4 in December.

Justin's World AppsJustin‘s World is the new family of apps from much loved children’s entertainer Justin Fletcher, MBE, who is best known as BBC’s Mr Tumble. Justin’s World uses storybooks, games and puzzles that build on Justin’s well-known character-based performances and features high quality illustrations, video and music combined with curriculum-based teaching games from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Primary National Curriculum.

There are 4 Apps to choose from in Justin’s World Apps – Jigsongs, Goldilocks, Lettersounds and Animals Sounds. We have been having fun with the first three Apps mentioned.
We decided to look at Justin’s World – Jigsongs first. This App is based around jigsaw puzzles of four well-known nursery rhymes – One Two Three Four Five, The Grand Old Duke of York, Old Macdonald and Twinkle Twinkle.
Justin World's AppMonkey took to the Justin’s World Jigsongs instantly, he loves jigsaw puzzles and understood what he needed to do without any guidance. Basically, once you’ve selected your Nursery Rhyme, you decide on the level of difficulty you want (number and size of jigsaw pieces) and you then click and drag each puzzle piece into place. When you have completed your puzzle Justin’s character sings the rhyme. Monkey loved it.
Justin's World Apps, Jigsongs, App ReviewThis App is great for encouraging manual dexterity and problem solving and is a big hit here.

Next up was Justin’s World – Goldilocks, is an interactive app based on the well-known fairytale.

Justin's World Apps, GoldilocksJustin introduces the story as himself and then pops up dressed as naughty Goldilocks throughout the app. Tap all the leaves to show us the bears cottage, and then tap each ladybird to make them fly – you need to tap once for the ladybird with one spot up to five times for the ladybird with five spots.

Justin's World Apps, GoldilocksThen you work your way through the house cleaning each room – counting items and working on colour recognition, as well as hand/eye coordination to complete each task. Monkey really enjoyed this game, and with a little guidance completed each task, a fair bit of problem solving was required so it was great for making him really think about what he needed to do in each room. Justin gives you guidance throughout each task. It’s a great app, we can thoroughly recommend it.

Finally we tried Justin’s World – Lettersounds.

Justin's World Apps, LettersoundsAt the moment this App engaged Monkey the least. You pick a letter and Justin tells you the sound, you then need to pick the letter to complete a word, and guess which objects begin with that letter.

Justin's World LettersoundsI think this particular App will become a great help to Monkey over the next year or two, as he gets to grips with letters and spellings.

The Apps mentioned range from 69p – £2.99, available from the Apple store (Android options should be available soon) and I think they offer really good value for money.  There is no in-app purchasing which I also like.

disclaimer: we were given access to these Apps for the purpose of review, our comments however, remain our own, honest opinions.

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with a 7 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
