Pig Goes Pop! – game review AD

disclosure:  we were sent this game for the purpose of review

My son will be 4 in December and I’ve noticed recently that his concentration levels when playing games is definitely improving.  I’m always on the lookout for something fun for us to try at home and when Drumond Park offered to send us Pig Goes Pop! I was interested to see what he would think.

Pig Goes Pop

Pig Goes Pop! is suitable for children aged 4 years and over, and actually, my son loved it from the moment he looked at the box.

The game is for 2-6 players, which will be great when we next see all of his NCT buddies.  A real bonus to find a game that they can all play together.

I liked the fact that no assembly was required and Pig Goes Pop! doesn’t need batteries!

The game comprises the funny Piggy Chef with his expanding tummy, dice and 16 burgers with yellow, green, red and purple burger bun tops.  Each burger has a number on its underside.

So how do you play the game?

Simple!  Pig Goes Pop! is a really fun game, and very easy for younger children to understand.  My son got the idea of the game immediately, loved feeding the Piggy Chef his burgers and pressing his hat down to expand his tummy.  At the moment he’s not worried about winning – he was quite happy to be the one who made Pig Goes Pop!

I liked the idea that this game would help with colour identification and improve his number recognition and counting skills.  He’s not bad with turn-taking and this game is not too long so it keeps his attention.  He happily spent this afternoon playing Pig Goes Pop! over and over again.  Apparently, he’s challenging Daddy P to a game over the weekend.

With an RRP of £19.99, it’s probably at the top end of what I would pay for this type of game, but it’s made of sturdy plastic, it’s going to last and I can see him getting lots of enjoyment out of it in the next couple of years.

For more information on Pig Goes Pop!, others games and stockists visit the Drumond Park website.  You can also find them on Twitter and Facebook.
