Before I became a Mum I worked in Export Sales and one of my regular trips was to Gothenburg in Sweden. I loved the area, the people, the fantastic food and depending on my flight times I sometimes got a few minutes to wander around the shops close to my hotel in Molndal. I’ve always been taken by Swedish design, but in those days it was all about me! I never looked at anything relevant to children on my visits. So recently, when I came across me&i, a Swedish clothing company offering some wonderfully designed clothes for both me and Monkey I wanted to know more, especially when a cool design for Monkey was mentioned!
me&i is a Swedish clothing company that makes clothes with a unique design and comfortable fit. We use high quality soft materials and manufacture clothes in a responsible manner in Europe. With colour and design we create the style which is typical for me&i.
me&i was founded by Susan Engvall and Helene Nyrell in 2004 in Barsebäck – Southern Sweden, which actually is not that far away from the area of Sweden I know myself. They have recently launched their Autumn Winter collection for 2013, and offered us a cool design for Monkey – Moody Cars (perfect for my nearly 4 year old son who is very up and down with his emotions at the moment!)
I couldn’t wait for Monkey to come home from Nursery School so we could see what he looks like in his Moody Cars top from me&i – a cool design for Monkey!
All me&i clothes are produced in Europe and no child labour is used to produce their products – which is always nice to know, when you hear horrific stories of sweatshops and child labour in far-flung corners of the globe.
What I really like, is that little details have been considered! You can turn the sleeve cuffs over and the fabric is double-sided – a lovely touch, if your child’s arms are a little short for the size of top.
We bought the size 110/116 which is suitable for children aged 4-5 years, and offers some growing space for Monkey over the winter. This Moody Cars top is priced from £18-20 depending on size, is beautifully made and washes well.
There is a wonderful range of clothes for children this Autumn/Winter – the tops especially as designed to be unisex with the choice of colours. A great idea, as not all girls are into fairies and everything in pink! There are some really cute designs for babies too – sadly a phase we are well past.
I have my eye on some of the Ladies Autumn/Winter range too, think I might be going shopping for myself rather soon.
