You may remember that my son and I went on a snail hunt back in the summer. Well, we’ve been in search of our little friends again. We’ve been on another snail hunt! This one took place on our recent trip to Otmoor Nature Reserve.
My son and I were both fascinated to see all the different coloured snail shells. He wanted to bring them all home, but I persuaded him that they were better off where they were!
We love our time tracking mini beasts – one of our favourite pastimes. We’re off to Spain next week to spend some time with Guru Gramps. Hopefully, we’ll have some Spanish mini beasts to share with you in a couple of weeks, maybe we’ll go on another snail hunt!

Fabulous pictures Mary, I do love how different and how striking snail shells are and what a brilliant collection of different ones you got to see that day. Have a fab holiday, I’m not really jealous of your escape to the sun….much! 🙂
Thanks, I was just amazed at the variety in one location. Really looking forward to the break, first proper once since last November. The rain tends to follow me to Spain but hopefully this time will be different!! Fingers crossed 🙂
It’s not till you start looking that you realise how many different varieties of snails there are in our own back gardens. We did this a few years ago and I was amazed at the number in our garden. Enjoy your holiday in Spain.
There are so many aren’t there. Thanks 🙂
We love snails – even if they are bad for the plants! Their shells are so beautiful and I quite like their funny eye stalks too!
I’m the same, I know they aren’t good in the garden but they do fascinate me
Wow, what an amazing set of photos! Have a wonderful holiday, look forward to hearing about your Spanish mini-beast hunts 🙂
Thanks a lot 🙂
that snail is enourmous! great capture too!
Thanks
Wow that’s a lot of snails and so many different ones. Looks like lots of fun on your snail walks 🙂
We do love snail hunts
Lovely pictures and I would never have noticed there were so many different varieties were it not for your collage. a wonderful expedition and I’m looking forward to lizards and bugs from Spain next week. Have a wonderful time!
We will 🙂 thanks
This is lovely, and something we’ve not done before. We’ve been on bug hunts, but not specifically snail hunts, and there are so many different colours, aren’t there? Must do!
We love our snail hunts, the great thing is that they hang around long enough for kids to really study them
Wow! You and your son must have eagle eyes to have found so many snails. Lovely pics!
We were very busy
I’m amazed how different they all look. and kind of beautiful too – didn’t think I’d say that about snails!
They really are wonderful
Wow you found a lot! It’s amazing how different some of their shells are, they are actually quite pretty!
There were hundreds, I had to stop taking photos in the end
My wee man can’t resist snails and he loves to bring them back with him! Poor things can get poked a bit and I have to remind him to be nice.
Yes, it can be a bit like that here too
Great adventure you have had and such a lovely variety of snails
Thanks, snails can be so varied
