Spooky Cakes for Halloween

As you can tell from previous posts on Spooky Fruits and Halloween decorations, I’m getting prepared early for Halloween this year!  My son and I decided to make some Spooky Cakes for Halloween earlier in the week, that I could freeze until the big event.

I’d bought a silicone cake mould last year from Avon of all places, and just never got round to using it.

This year was going to be different, I actually remembered where I’d put it for a start!  So after lunch, my little chef and I got to work. Time to make some spooky cakes for Halloween.

We decided on Mixed Berry Muffins (a Hummingbird Bakery recipe that we LOVE).

Once the cakes were baked – what could we do to make them look a bit more ghoulish? (I do like that word!)

I decided to cover them in icing, it was a bit too runny, but I figured that if it had been thicker I would have lost the detail on the cakes…

What spooky delights will you be coming up with for Halloween this year?  You might also like to pop over to Bubbablue and Me for some lovely Oreo Pumpkins.
