Thomas & Friends Christmas Journey – AD invited to event

Thomas & Friends Christmas Journey

We were lucky to be invited to Hamleys in London, again on Sunday, this time we got the chance to meet the Fat Controller and have some fun as part of the Thomas & Friends Christmas Journey campaign.

The Reverend W. Awdry originally created Thomas the Tank Engineto cheer up his son when he was sick. In the same spirit, Thomas & Friends are celebrating Christmas this year by undertaking an epic journey to help The Fat Controller deliver presents to children in hospitals across the UK and Ireland.

My son sat spellbound while the Fat Controller read us Thomas stories, all part of the Thomas & Friends Christmas journey.  There were opportunities for some Thomas colouring and dot-to-dot and even face painting (not that Monkey could ever be persuaded to join in with that one!)  The kids all made a beeline for the train track – surprise, surprise!  We were given a lovely blue balloon sword, which made its way all around London that afternoon, before bursting just as we got on the train to come home.

There was also an opportunity to have your photo taken with Thomas himself, unfortunately, he is not a fan of photography and turned down the chance.  He then spent the entire train journey home asking where his Thomas photo was – children!

If you’d like to meet the Fat Controller as he makes his journey round the country, then this is his schedule:

Hamleys – Cardiff – 17th November
Hamleys – Glasgow – 24th November
Hamleys – Dublin – 1st December
