Digger Fun with My 1st JCB

Today we’re having Digger Fun with My 1st JCB! The My 1st JCB range is a firm favourite in this house for a few reasons.  Before my son arrived on the scene, I worked for a company supplying plastic components to industry.  I worked on the Export side of the business but was used to hearing the JCB name in the office as one of our customers.  I remember there being lots of different divisions, little did I know then that 4 years later I would be a fountain of all knowledge concerning JCB machines!

My son received a My 1st JCB board book when he was 2 weeks old for Christmas in 2009.  That was the start of his collection and an obsession for construction machinery.  We have board books, picture books, push back vehicles, puzzles and his beloved My 1st JCB DVD box set – we are a My 1st JCB haven for all things Backhoe Loaders, Tractors, Bulldozers and Cement Mixers!  We even had help from Larry Loadall at meal times a while back, if you remember.

So when I spotted the Digger Fun Whizzy Winders Book I just knew it would be a firm favourite.

Digger Fun is published through Igloo Books and is a large board book with a fold-out 50cm square playmat.  It comes with two wind up construction vehicles that whizz around the track on the playmat.  There is Joey JCB – one of the central characters in the My 1st JCB range, the helpful Backhoe Loader and Dan Dozer, the bulldozer.

The story in Digger Fun sees Joey and Dan help to clear obstacles around the town along with Tommy Truck and Doug Dumptruck.  The playmat mirrors the story and also features more of the My 1st JCB crew – including Roxy Robot.

He will be 4 next month, he still adores the My 1st JCB range and we’ve read Digger Fun over and over since it arrived.  He can wind up the vehicles himself and set them off around the track, which caused fits of laughter.

The graphics in Digger Fun are clear and there are lots of discussion points throughout the story and on the playmat itself.  The 2 vehicle whizzy winders have withstood his abuse play so far, and he has been playing with them a lot!

As normal with him it wasn’t long before he was extending the play potential of Digger Fun with some of his favourite My 1st JCB characters and some more obstacles for his favourite friends to clear!

He gives Digger Fun with My 1st JCB a big thumbs up.  As a parent, I really like this range, great for any construction mad child out there, and the message of working together to get the job done is in every story.  Priced at £12.99 I can see this being a much-loved present in any young child’s Christmas stocking this year.
