The Christmas Treasure Hunt

The Christmas Treasure Hunt – 12 Days of Christmas books – Day 6 – AD sent for review

disclosure:  we were sent this book for the purpose of review

Can you believe we are halfway through my 12 Days of Christmas books posts! Today’s book is a real cracker, a lovely lift-the-flap book called The Christmas Treasure Hunt.  The book is written by Ag Jatkowska and is published by Campbell Books, a division of PanMacmillan.

The Christmas Treasure Hunt

As soon as I saw this hardback book, I just couldn’t wait to sit my son down on the sofa and open it.  What would The Christmas Treasure Hunt have in store for us?  I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but this looked so inviting, so Christmassy!

There are 10 pages to this beautifully illustrated lift-the-flap book, and so much to investigate on every page.  The Christmas Treasure Hunt is exactly that, a story of a treasure hunt being held in Green Oak Wood.

The Christmas Treasure Hunt

The woodland children set off from school in search of presents hidden in the woods, each labelled with their picture.  We laughed when we saw that a rather short-sighted mole had accidentally opened a present meant for the reindeer.

Once all the friends have found their presents they head off to the Grand Old Tree for the biggest surprise of all, a surprise I will not spoil for you.

The Christmas Treasure Hunt is a lovely book, the kind of pop-up book you would want to keep away from younger children who might easily tear the pages.  My son, at nearly 4 years of age, is very good at looking after book these days.  I would still keep an eye on him with this book though, as it’s so nice, it really is a book to treasure.

We love this book, he loves it when we go hunting for things, and really understood what the animals were doing.  Needless to say, I’ve now been tasked with providing him with The Christmas Treasure Hunt for Christmas!
