disclosure: we were sent this book for the purpose of review
Day 9 of the 12 Days of Christmas books is all about opposites with the charming Rabbits in the Snow by Natalie Russell. This hardback book was published earlier this month by Macmillan.
Rabbits in the Snow is one in a series of books featuring Little Rabbit and her friends. This 24-page book shows Little Rabbit and her coloured friends having fun in the snow with small and large snowballs, filling baskets full of berries dressing a snowman.
My son really liked this book, it shows him opposites but as part of a story, a bit different from other ‘opposites’ books we have. The rabbits are all different colours, so Rabbits in the Snow also helps children to identify different colours.
We had great fun reading about the rabbits and what they used to decorate their snowman. We talked about textures, hard and soft, what is old and what is new. The text is simple, so easy for a nearly 4-year-old to understand.
Rabbits in the Snow is a lovely little story as well as an educational aid for pre-school children. It would be a wonderful surprise for any younger child to open on Christmas morning.
That looks like a really lovely book for little ones
