My baby is nearly 4

My baby is nearly 4

I’ve been really struggling for the last few weeks to get the balance right between the blog and time just concentrating on Monkey.  We’ve been away a lot, which is wonderful, but caused a backlog of commitments here.  I’ve felt like a bad Mum, I needed to spend some time just enjoying my son, enjoying those last precious days of him being a 3-year-old.  So I apologise for the lack of personal posts recently, for not joining in with linkys for a couple of weeks, for not reading or commenting on blogs.  I just needed to step back a bit.  My baby is nearly 4 and I can’t quite believe it!

My baby is nearly 4So this is my What’s The Story? post for the week – it’s a bit of a montage of the last year with Monkey, just some of my favourite photos of him.  Very self-indulgent, but he’s my one and only, my baby, my little boy, my wonderful little man.

My baby is nearly 4, in fact, tonight will be the last time I put a 3-year-old to bed.  In the morning he will be all grown up.

Every year is more magical than the last.  This last year has seen his speech develop and blossom.  He can say why? to me as many times as he likes, I’m just so amazed by how much he’s come on in this last year.  He is no angel, although this Wednesday and Thursday he hopefully will be one in the Nativity Play!  So glad it’s not me trying to getting him dressed up for that!  He is very loving and caring, is fascinated by anything mechanical, loves nature and is a joy to be with, most of the time.

What will this next wonderful year have in store for my little boy?  Will he finally decide he wants a bike, will he decide he loves climbing frames, will his addiction to bananas subside, will he still love trains, planes etc etc etc, will he still tell me he loves me over and over every day?  I just hope he has a happy year, full of adventures and exploration.  Another year of growing (but please feet, please stop growing!!) a year of making friends and hopefully being a little less reserved.  My baby is nearly 4 and I love him, so, so much 🙂

  1. It’s good to take a step back sometimes and just enjoy family life. I think 3-4 there are massive differences and you look back and wonder where on earth the time went! Hope Monkey has a fantastic 4th birthday!

  2. Such a wonderful post Mary – I just love your fantastic collage. It’s difficult getting the balance right isn’t it. It must be so strange thinking about Monkey turning 4. I hope he has a fabulous birthday and enjoys the nativity. Thank you so much for sharing with #whatsthestory

  3. Lovely collage Mary! I particularly like the one of him in the snow – what a fantastic smile! Three to four is an amazing year, they learn so much! It will be brilliant 🙂 #WhatstheStory

  4. Lovely post. I love reading what you and monkey get up to. It’s good to take time to appreciate what’s important

  5. Four is our next big birthday and it’s a big one isn’t it? It means school, which is a little bit terrifying. I think, sometimes, it’s important to step back from the blog if you need to. They are the reason we do it and it should never take us away from them.

    1. It seems that it’s a slippery slope from here on in, school will be here before I know it and my baby is growing up so fast. Yes, I’m trying to spend less time on the blog, and more time doing the things we enjoy together at the moment 🙂

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
