You may remember that last year I reviewed some wonderful Thai Chicken curry from ilumi world. ilumi world pride themselves on providing quick and easy meals which are gluten, milk, nut and junk free. Great meals, and even better if you have intolerance issues too. I’ve been sent some samples to test from the new Gastro Pub range from ilumi world – lucky me!
Our ilumi Gastro Pub range features four of the classical flavour combinations found in modern Gastro Pub cuisine. The dishes are – Coq au Vin, Tender Pork with Suffolk Cider & Wholegrain Mustard, Succulent Lamb in Gluten Free Ale with Haricot Beans and Venison Casserole with Pancetta & Sloe Gin.
I couldn’t wait to test the samples out. Each package serves one person, and is microwaveable. The only negative comment I had last time, was with the quantity of chicken included in the meal. But this time, no such complaints from me.
First up was the Venison Casserole with Pancetta & Sloe Gin. Something I would definitely pick on an evening out.
The Venison was lovely and tender, I felt there was enough meat, and for a sauce lover like me, I was in heaven. The flavours in the sauce were wonderful and I really enjoyed the meal. The packet takes 2 minutes to heat in the microwave, leave to stand for a minute and then serve. Delicious.
Next up to pull out of the cupboard (these meals don’t need to be kept in the fridge) was the Tender Pork with Suffolk Cider & Wholegrain Mustard.
I wondered if I would enjoy this meal as much as the Venison. I’m not as keen on Pork, as it can so easily be too dry, and I’m really not a mustard fan. But I was pleasantly surprised. The pork just fell apart, moist and tender. The wholegrain mustard wasn’t overpowering at all. Another tasty, quick and enjoyable meal.
I’m lucky, I don’t have any food intolerance issues, but I know a number of people who do. This Gastro Pub range from ilumi world can be enjoyed by all, and I can thoroughly recommend it. ilumi world deliver direct to your door, these 275g pouches cost £3.75 each, so you can enjoy the Gastro Pub themed food from the comfort of your own kitchen at a very reasonable price.
