Little nibbles from Pidy

Little nibbles from Pidy

logopidyWe do love our food in this house and we’ve been having some bite size fun with some little nibbles from Pidy recently.

Pidy started out in Ypres, Belgium in 1952 as a family run patisserie shop. The business has developed over the years and they now create a large range of ready to fill puff pastry, short crust, foncage dough and choux pastry.  Pidy have recently launched a range of pastry cases for the retail market.

The new retail range includes their award winning Duobelle range and Spoonettes range. Others in range consist of the dainty Mini Cocktail range, the pretty Flower Cuppy’s, the interestingly shaped Fishka’s, the square shaped puff pastry Mini Carrés and the classic round puff pastry vol au vents
Zakouskis.

We received a pack of 12 Zakouskis pastry shells and 12 Mini-Tartelettes Sablees to test.

Little nibbles from PidyWe decided to try the Zakouskis first, they really are bite size little pastry cases, and I think they’d be ideal for a children’s party.  Place the cases in a pre-heated oven on a baking sheet for 6 minutes at 170 deg C and they are ready to fill.

012 014 018I filled the Zakouskis with Smoked Salmon and Cream Cheese, and Egg Mayonnaise.  Our little nibbles from Pidy were rather good, crispier than the usual, larger vol-au-vent cases I’m familiar with.

Little nibbles from PidyThen we were in need of some pudding, so I used the Mini Tartelettes Sablees which are made with short crust pastry.

Little nibbles from PidyI chopped up some fruit and added some Choc Shot chocolate sauce to our desert little nibbles from Pidy.

Little nibbles from PidyYou can learn more about the Bouchees and Spoonettes over at The Life of Spicers.

Pidy also have a range of Veggie cups available in four flavours beetroot, carrot, spinach and celeriac and come in packs of 12.

The four flavours capture the true nature, colour and essence of
the vegetables as they are made with 30% real vegetable juice extract and no E numbers or artificial colours. The canapés are also made with Pâté à Foncer dough which is lighter and contains 50% less fat than standard pastry.

  1. These look fab! Such a good idea for a canape at parties or for a quick snack for the kids. Something a bit different!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
