There are so many things I have to thank Monkey for, I have learnt so much these last 4 years about all sorts of things. If you take the time, children really help you open your eyes, view the world differently. I realised just how much I took for granted. I grew up surrounded by nature, a father who has a passion, a childhood spent with a butterfly net in hand. Memories that were deep inside, suddenly unleashed when you have a child. You also look at what you have around you, you appreciate it so much more. Well, I do anyway. Perhaps you don’t. It’s certainly true of our favourite haunt. I’ve written numerous posts about our favourite haunt, Blenheim Palace. Before Monkey was born, I’d only been once before. Even though, for 24 years I’ve only lived a maximum of 40 minutes away.
We’ve spent so much time at our favourite haunt over the last 4 years, but the last couple of years have been all about the Pleasure Gardens. Sandpits and butterflies, mixed in with train rides. The Sunday we got back from Spain, the sun was out, it was time for a trip to our favourite haunt, with Daddy P in tow. We decided to visit the formal gardens for a change. To see the fountains and to see of the daffodil beds near our ‘NCT picnic tree’ were out.
One of the great things about our favourite haunt is that Monkey never tires of it either. He get’s so excited about the prospect of another adventure. It’s lovely.
There’s something magical about fountains, Monkey stood watching in awe at the Blenheim fountains. Wow Mummy!
Then it was off in search of daffodils and views of the lake.
We found a tree that had suffered in the last storms, we looked at blossom, leaves and pine cones. We walked in the sunshine, chatting, enjoying the scenery. After a lunch stop, we walked to the train stop, but the queue was really long, so we decided to walk down to the Pleasure Gardens. The Butterfly House is closed for rebuilding. The roof has gone on since our last visit. We can’t wait to see it re-opened again soon.
After a busy day enjoying the sights at our favourite haunt, it was time for ice cream!
It does look really lovely there. And rounding it off with an ice cream makes it perfect!
We are so lucky, just love it there.
It really is a beautiful place, you are so lucky to visit there regularly.
We really are, it’s a pot of gold, never fails to delight.
I would love to visit Blenheim, I’ve only been once many years ago before the children came along. It looks glorious. How far is Snowshill Manor from you? Maybe we could make a half way meeting spot one time? One of the beauties of having NT membership 🙂
We never tire of it, so much to explore. I’m waiting for our NT membership to arrive at the moment. According to AA Route finder it’s just over an hour away. Not been there before either. Sounds like a plan, will give you a shout as soon as my card arrives!
It does look like an amazing place to explore
It’s just my favourite place, every time we go there is something else to look at and Monkey never gets bored.
It’s easy to see why it’s one of your favourite places to visit! There’s plenty to explore for all the family and something for everyone to enjoy. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
It really is, we just never tire of it there.
That looks like a fantastic place to visit – especially in Spring. You’ve captured it beautifully – I especially like your daffodil picture.
Thank you, it really is a wonderful place.
Gorgeous photos, and I couldn’t agree more – having kids has been the best adventure ever and shown me a whole new world! #CountryKids

We really do love it there.
I’m very keen to visit Blenheim Palace when we’re back in the Uk so it’s brilliant to know – and see from your lovely pix – that it also will be a great day out for the kids. #countrykids
I can thoroughly recommend it Kriss, not cheap for a one off, but there really is loads to see, we go all the time. If you do make it, let me know, would be lovely to say hello while you’re here 🙂
Looks like a fab place! Isn’t it amazing how they never seem to run out of energy? At the end of the day, after running after my 3-year-old I feel totally spent! #CountryKids.

I can see why you like it here so much. It looks beautiful!
It’s stunning
It looks like a great place and I can see why it is one of your favourites. You are right, having children really does change your whole perspective doesn’t it.
It certainly does
The grounds of the palace look wonderful, it must be great to see the seasons change as you visit so frequently.
It seems different every time we visit to be honest.
Outstanding, I really want to go. Perfect day out and even better for the sunshine. I could watch fountains all afternoon.
It is a wonderful place to visit.
