We’ve been really busy this week, catching up with lots of friends. Thursday saw us take a trip up the motorway to see my best friend for the day. She lives in Derbyshire, in a tiny little village, right in the countryside. After lunch, we decided to go for a walk along an old railway line not far from her house.
Monkey was rather bemused. How can we walk on a railway line?
We explained to him that lots of old railway lines have closed over the years and that some are now walk and cycleways. He was rather disappointed that we couldn’t see any tracks as we went for a walk along an old railway line.
But he loves spending time with his Auntie A, and they were soon busy chatting as we went for a walk in the sunshine.
He loved walking under the various railway bridges, and it wasn’t long until he’d found a stick or two to join us on a walk along an old railway line!
We had a lovely walk, chatting, laughing and spotting butterflies (male Orange Tips) and a number of ladybirds. Looking at various flowers and enjoying the countryside.
We even got to see some goats as we walked, forgot to take any photos of them. We didn’t see any tractors, a major disappointment for Monkey. But it was lovely to get out in the countryside and enjoy a walk along an old railway line. Great that the track has been developed so people can enjoy it. Although the building has been replaced, you can also see a platform along one stretch of the walk.
Monkey had a great time, exploring nature and having fun.
That looks like a lovely place to go for a walk. Lots of nature-spotting to enjoy x
It really is lovely, you feel like you are in the middle of nowhere.
Awww, my old stomping ground. It’s gorgeous down there and much less grey than Manchester! 🙂
It really is lovely, she has a stunning barn conversion in a hamlet, I always drive away sighing!
Gorgeous pictures. Love the ladybird close up!
We saw loads of them, do love ladybirds – or Gaston’s as Monkey calls them!
Look so fun! Gorgeous photos you took!
Thank you, it was a lovely walk.
Pretty photos and looks like he had fun! #countrykids
It was a lovely afternoon walk.
I was on an old railway line path today…and earlier this week. I love when old lines are transformed into country/nature walks. Wonderful shots from your visit.
It’s such a good use for them isn’t it.
That looks like a really lovely walk, I don’t think we have anywhere like that around here really x
We don’t either, my friend is so lucky to have this on her doorstep.
looks like you had lots of fun, and some lovely pictures
Thanks, it was lovely.
What a nice trip and a lovely way to catch up with friends. A rural walk with a stick and spotting natures treasures along the way – a great way to spend an afternoon. Thanks for linking up and sharing with Country Kids.
You can’t go for a walk without a stick now can you?
Looks like a beautiful place to have a walk and a nature hunting adventure!
It really is lovely there.
lovely pictures- looks like you all had fun.
We certainly did, it was great.
That looks like a lovely walk. There was an old railway line in the town where I used to live and we used to love a walk down there.
