Green Toys Chef Set

Green Toys Chef Set – pretend play – a toy review

Green Toys Chef Set

As you know we’re working with Green Toys at the moment as an Eco Friendly Toy Tester.  Last month I featured the great Tractor from the range, and for the last few weeks we’ve been having lots of Green Toys Chef Set pretend play fun.

One thing you notice straight away with Green Toys products is the minimal packaging. No unnecessary plastic retainers, the box itself can be recycled easily.

Green Toys Chef Set

The Green Toys Chef Set is like everything in the range; made from recycled plastic milk bottles.  Every time I type that, it makes me smile.  You honestly have to touch these products, they feel fab, not like your normal plastic toys.  It’s the first thing friends mention when they come to play.

There are no nasties, the plastic is non-toxic, BPA-free and you can safely use real food with this set.  It’s even dishwasher safe.

The set comprises a cooking pot with lid, a frying pan, a ladle and a fish slice – all in lovely colours, another bonus.

This set is really robust, another thing we’ve discovered with Green Toys.  The products are really good quality and they are made to last.  This particular set is aimed at children aged 2 years and over.  It would make a great addition to any child’s kitchen and we’ve had lots of pretend play fun.

As you all know Monkey loves baking and cooking with me in the kitchen. We don’t have the space for him to have his own toy kitchen, but as soon as I saw the box for the Green Toys Chef Set I had an idea.  We could make the box into a camping stove.  I was going to get Monkey to paint it, but he was quite happy for it to stay as it is.  So I used the cooking pot lid as a template to make him a couple of gas rings.  Glued them on top of the box and away he went!  One simple cooking stove, we can even use one of the side flaps as a drop down grill!

Both the cooking pot and frying pan are a good size, great for cooking up lots of delights. The handles are easy for little hands to hold and Monkey has used the Green Toys Chef Set a lot since we first opened the box.

Monkey’s been cooking up a storm!  We’ve had alphabet omelettes, stews and so much more.  He’s used his pretend play food as well as some of his construction toys with the Green Toys Chef Set, his imagination has run riot.  His friends have been to play and enjoyed cooking up a banquet for us.  As soon as the rain stops and we can get outside I have a feeling there might just be a Teddy Bear’s picnic in store and this set will come in very handy.

As well as the Chef Set, Green Toys also sell a number of other cooking inspired sets including a lovely Tea set which look so muck nicer than the plastic set we have!

Priced at £13.99 the Green Toys Chef Set items are going to last, they are going to be well-played with, they are going to be loved.  You can’t ask for more than that from a play set can you.

Although the set is currently out of stock on the Bigjigs Toys Ltd (UK distributor) website, there is stock at the following retailers; Chefs Set and Toyella.

disclaimer:  we were sent this set in exchange for an honest review.

  1. I love the idea of eco-friendly toys. The packaging looks great too – I’ve just spent the afternoon grappling with those horrendous plastic ties they seem to put on everything these days!

  2. Oh I love Green Toys and these look great – I love the neutral colours and how durable they look but so much nicer than cheap shiny plastic! x

  3. Love the way these are made from recycled milk bottles. This set looks great and I love your recycled cooker! I see the plus plus made an appearance too!

  4. You can tell just looking at these that they are great quality, they look beautiful. I love how you’ve adapted the box, maybe the company should think about adding some rings on the box themselves.

  5. That looks like a great set and would be perfect for Little Miss A’s kitchen. It looks like Monkey has been having a lot of fun with it too.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
