Chuggington StackTrack and Diecast sets – a review for Tomy Part 1

Chuggington StackTrack and Diecast sets

Having a cat called Brewster gives you a fairly good idea that we love Chuggington in this house.  You all know how much we love trains. When the lovely people at Tomy sent us a couple of packages recently I just knew that Monkey would be over the moon.  We received the Chuggington Stacktrack Tunnel Bridge Adventure set …..

and a Chugineer Brewster and Digger car along with a Chug Patrol Wilson and Claw car. All of the items received are suitable for children aged 3 years and over.

Oh yes, he was a very happy boy indeed.  The trains came out first, he loves the fact that they both have movable parts and you can connect them all together.  Monkey already has a few of the Chuggington die-cast trains, but he didn’t have any suitable track as they are smaller than the trains you get for wooden railways.  So, with this in mind I knew it would be a high priority to check the track sets out.

The Chuggington StackTrack Tunnel Bridge Adventure set comes complete with a Brewster train, and 12 pieces of track and accessories along with a full instruction booklet and Chuggington poster.

As soon as Monkey started to assemble the track I was impressed by the sturdiness of the set.  The track is chunky and really well designed.  The bridge sections have been especially well thought out and actually stay in place.  There is nothing worse than a little train fan putting a track together with elevated sections that don’t stay put.  This one really does.

I believe that the StackTrack must have had a recent re-design and the set includes an adaptor set too, so great if you’ve got an old set, that you can extend with the new.

Monkey found the Tunnel Bridge Adventure set really easy to construct himself.  The instruction booklet shows three different track layouts, for added play potential, and of course you can do your own thing too.  We are big believers in designing our own tracks and we love the flexibility that this range offers.

Kids love moving parts don’t they.  This set includes points, a signal and an exit barrier on the bridge section.  This set has kept Monkey amused for hours.

I have been so impressed with this set.  We have a couple of different plastic train set systems and this rates highly.  There are a number of add-on sets available and you can buy a large number of Chuggington die-cast trains too.

This particular set retails for around £28.00 and I’d recommend it to anyone.  I can certainly see it being ideal in a pre-school setting.  It offers 360 degree play potential and stays together so well.

For the second part of my review tomorrow I will focus on the Chuggington Die Cast Twists and Turns Action Track pack.

disclaimer:  we were sent these items in exchange for an honest review
