Last Sunday we went to the Bloxham Steam Rally, it’s a bit of an annual favourite, but if it clashes with the Grand Prix I miss out. This year, they are on different weekends so I could tag along too. We had another guest with us as Monkey has an adventure with Barny. You’ll hear more about him later.
Monkey loves Traction Engines, and he was raring to go when we arrived at the Steam Rally. What to look at first?
Since going to the Bournemouth Wheels Festival recently, Monkey has been fixated with Monster Trucks, so you can imagine his delight when he saw one trampling over cars.
Once we’d seen a few cars being trampled it was off for some more adventures. This was Daddy, I can see some tanks. On fact there were a whole host of military vehicles, but the tanks appeared to be Monkey’s favourites.
The Steam Rally is held over a number of fields, with several different displays going on at any one time. There is always something to look at, something to talk about. Whether it be ride-on traction engines ……
or a JCB excavator – yes I was told I HAD to take this photo …..
to remote-controlled diggers ……
Lots of action, lots of things to keep a 4 and half year old Monkey amused. He went on a miniature Steam Train ride with Daddy P, watched traction engines working with a saw to cut timber. Discovered row after row of vintage tractors and saw a steam-powered car!
After all that excitement it was time for Monkey to sit down and have a snack. Meet Barny, the bear shaped sponge snack – perfect for my little adventurer to enjoy.
Barney is available in four flavours – the original chocolate and milk, along with the new apple and strawberry flavours. Each 30g bar is individually wrapped, and the perfect size for picnics.
We received samples two boxes of 5 bars, one of strawberry and one of chocolate. Monkey and I decided to try a chocolate Barney and Daddy P scoffed the strawberry one. There were no crumbs left – a clear indication of a hit!
Monkey has an adventure with Barny thanks to Mumsnet. I have a feeling that this little cheeky chap will be joining us a number of adventures over the summer holidays!
disclaimer: we were sent to packs of product to take part in the #littleadventures blog hop competition hosted by Mumsnet.
Didn’t look that muddy after the Saturday rain, or that busy. I’d presumed the Sunday would be packed because people would have put off going on the Saturday. Next time, I must get N there – shame it clashed with our treasure hunt
Looks like a great day out.
I had never heard of the Bournemouth Wheels Festival before – looks like fun x
I am always envious of your days out, you go everywhere! LP loves Barny bears too! x
Wow that looks like lots of fun!
I love that Monster Truck! The remote control diggers look really cool too – great little adventure! 😀
It’s a great day out, a firm family favourite here.
Looks like a great day out and the Monster Trucks would go down a storm with my little Mister! Lovely to see you today in London – hope you got the train home ok xx
