Baking Mad – a review

This always makes my family chuckle when they hear me say I’m baking mad.  Honestly, until the last 7 years I really couldn’t bake a thing.  But now, I really enjoy baking, and Monkey seems to share this passion too.  Although maybe with him, it’s more about the end result! Now I’ve discovered the perfect website, Baking Mad.

I'm Baking MadBaking Mad is a great site offering a vast array of recipes.  It’s free to join, you can build up your favourite recipes from across the site in your own recipe book and join in hosted competitions.  I really was spoilt for choice of what to try.

I love Madeira Cake but have never actually made it, I found a recipe on the Baking Mad site and I was off.  The site gives you clear instructions, list of ingredients, preparation and cooking times.

The recipe was easy to follow, and it wasn’t long before my Madeira Cake was ready to taste test.  You can see the products I used including some Allinson FlourBillington’s Sugar and Nielsen-Massey Vanilla Extract.

I’ve now started to collate my own recipe book,  Chocolate and Banana Tea Loaf is going to be our next Baking Mad treat I feel.

Any baking mad fan is going to love this site,  the recipes don’t end at cakes, there are recipes for Ice Cream,  Drinks, Gluten Free ideas and Sauces, picnic recipes and why not explore Baking Mad’s summer baking recipes.

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with a 7 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.

  1. I love the baking mad website – well, I love the competitions, although have only won small prizes. I don’t know if they just don’t have many entries, but I’ve won quite a lot of comps from them.

Have to admit, I’ve not used it much for actually finding recipes.

  2. Mmm, cake looks good. I do like that website for inspiration, just need to find the time to bake which I love but the children always want to join in! I love teaching them, but just sometimes want to bake something myself!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
