Preparing for rainy days ahead

Preparing for rainy days ahead – a review

Knowing how much Monkey loves jumping in muddy puddles, House of Fraser asked us if we’d like their help preparing for rainy days ahead.  We’ve been remarkably lucky and pretty much avoided any downpours recently, but we are now all kitted out for the days ahead.

Preparing for rainy days ahead

We received the Polarn O Pyret Kids Rain Jacket in Blue and Toby Tiger Boys Natural Rubber Boots to help us preparing for rainy days ahead.

Regular readers will know that I love Scandinavian clothing, and the Polarn O Pyret Rain Jacket lives up to my expectations.

Preparing for rainy days ahead

We ordered this jacket in age 4-6 years, European size 110/116.  Monkey will be 5 in December and this jacket comes up on the large size, so there is plenty of room for him to grow.

We both love the shade of blue, he stands out in this jacket.  There are reflective stripes on the sleeves, front and back so I have no worries about Monkey being seen as the nights start to draw in.  The hood is detachable, I wish you could fold it into the collar so it doesn’t get lost.  Minor niggle.  There are poppers at the wrists so you can adjust the cuff sizing, and the jacket is fastened with poppers too – again a minor niggle, I’d really like to see a zip fastener on a rain jacket.

Monkey’s new rain jacket is made of a breathable material mix of 65% Polyester/35% Polyrethan, is wind and waterproof with welded seams.  It’s a hit with my mud Monkey. It can be washed at 40 degrees C, so a big hit with me too.

Priced at £35.00 I think this is great value for money for a jacket that will last Monkey quite some time ahead.

It’s probably fair to say that Mummy was more excited about the rain jacket than Monkey.  But then came the wellies!  Mummy! Diggers! and a rucksack! What more needed to be said.

When I ordered these lovely Toby Tiger wellies I didn’t even realise they came with a matching rucksack, but what a great idea.  The soles are really chunky, so they will last the riggers of some serious walking over the coming months.  The cotton lining will help to keep Monkey’s feet warm on our outdoor adventures too.  I also liked the pull on tabs at the back to help Monkey get his new wellies on and off.

We ordered the Toby Tiger wellies is a Junior size 12, yes my son’s feet just don’t stop growing.  Priced at £21.99 these are a good quality Wellington boot and great value if you add in the rucksack too.  I also love the idea that they pretty much match his new rain jacket.

So thank you House of Fraser for preparing us for rainy days ahead.  I’m sure that we’ll be getting lots of use out of Monkey’s new gear in the months to come.

  1. I love rain jackets and really wanted a Hatley one for N, but can never find the design I want in the right size. The PoP ones are lovely, but like you I want a zip and poppers on the flap.

N would love the wellies though. Toby Tiger kit is great.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
