Plan Toys Croquet

Plan Toys Croquet – a review for Great Gizmos

Plan Toys Croquet

When I think of summer when I was a child I always think of playing games in our back garden.  Whether my brother and I were reliving the Olympics or we were playing badminton as a family.  But my favourite game as a child was Croquet.  I can’t say that I played the game particularly well, but I always loved the game.  Regular readers will know that Monkey has been introduced to the game this year on a few trips to National Trust properties.

I was thrilled when Great Gizmos asked us if Monkey would like to test the Plan Toys Croquet set.

I love Plan Toys, so I knew we wouldn’t be disappointed with the quality of the Plan Toys Croquet set.  Aimed at children aged 4 years and over, this wooden set is made from responsibly forested materials.  The finish of the set is wonderful and the colours are bright and attractive.

The Plan Toys Croquet set consists of a carry bag, 2 mallets, 4 numbered wickets, a final stand and 4 coloured animal balls.

I love the details on the four animals balls, each has a face and a tail or legs.

The numbered wickets are made of wood and rope, you can place the two ends of each wicket at different widths to increase difficulty in play.

So what would Monkey think of having his very own Plan Toys Croquet set?  I love it Mummy! Can we play now?

The mallets are just the right size for a nearly 5-year-old Monkey.  But I still think they will last for some time to come.  Croquet is a great game for improving hand eye coordination, turn taking and concentration skills.  It’s a game that the whole family can enjoy and it’s a timeless classic as far as I’m concerned.  It’s also great for kids to create their own croquet course.  Monkey likes straight lines, but the possibilities are endless.

Even Brewster wanted to inspect the course!

We’ve only played the Plan Toys Croquet in the garden, but actually Monkey is old enough now to be careful with mallets and I can see some indoor fun ahead over the winter months.

This is a wonderful set for children. It’s priced at £42.95, which I accept isn’t cheap.  But this wooden set will offer hours of fun and is durable.  I know we’ll be getting lots of use out of it.  The carry case also makes this a great game to take to the park, or on holiday.

disclaimer: we were sent this set in exchange for an honest review
