Dinosaur Pooping – what fun!

We were recently asked by Mumsnet if we’d like to review The Dinosaur that Pooped the Past!  Monkey loved the Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas as you may recall from last year. Being even more dinosaur obsessed this year, and of an age when ‘toilet humour’ absolutely rocks – yes please!

Monkey was really pleased when he received two lots of dinosaur pooping fun and mayhem to read!

Dinosaur Pooping

Thank you to Random House for supplying this double dose of dinosaur fun.  I actually had my eye on The Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet for Monkey’s birthday, so this was well received by both of us.

Both dinosaur pooping books are written by Tom Fletcher and Dougie Poynter (McFly fame) and illustrated superbly by Garry Parsons.

The Dinosaur that Pooped a Planet! is the second installment of adventures featuring Danny and his always hungry dinosaur.  The firm friends have run out of games to play and decide to have a space adventure at the Science Museum.  Mum’s fatal last words – don’t forget to take your lunch!  That had Monkey in giggles.  Mummy is the dinosaur going to get hungry again?  I would say so Monkey.

Danny and the dinosaur find a rocket at the Museum, and zoom off into space, it’s only when they are orbiting the earth that he realises his mistake – yes, he has left their packed lunch at home.  Not a good idea with this dinosaur around!

DSCN0085Chaos ensues as the dinosaur eats his way through the spaceship before deciding to eat the moon, Martians and six supernovas.  How was poor Danny ever going to get home in time for tea?

There was only one thing for it, the dinosaur would have to poop everything that he’d eaten and jettison them back to planet Earth.  Monkey was in fits, the book was a hit.

Then it was time for more dinosaur pooping, this time with the third, new installment – The Dinosaur that Pooped the Past!  We briefly met Granny in The Dinosaur that Pooped Christmas and she makes a return in this latest release.  Granny is 1008! and there was me thinking I was over the hill.

Granny’s speciality is cooking green food – it looks disgusting Mummy! But the hungry dinosaur ate the lot.  After lunch Danny and the dinosaur head straight for Granny’s tree swing.  No ordinary tree swing though, this one is a time machine!

The duo sped back in time, past the Romans and Egyptians and ended up in the land of the dinosaurs with a broken swing to boot!

Dinosaur poopingWe get to meet the Dino Dudes, a great addition to the fun for a Monkey learning to read at the moment. Disaster is about to strike, there is a volcano about to erupt, the ground is cracking and lava is heading towards the friends.  How can they get home with their broken time machine tree swing?

The Dino Dudes help to mend the swing, and then it’s over to the Dinosaur to propel them back to the future, in the only way he knows how!

Monkey has loved both of these books, they are perfectly aimed at a nearly 5-year-old Monkey. Priced at 6.99 each, these paperback books are going to be a big hit in any child’s Christmas stocking.
