Enjoying family time in Orlando

Enjoying family time in Orlando – for the kid in all of us

I’ve a few friends who have either recently returned from enjoying family time in Orlando or are set to jet off soon.  The USA is somewhere I’ve never actually been too, although Daddy P went to Orlando some years ago.  I’m sure we’ll take Monkey at some point in the future.

Orlando is the perfect destination for kids both young and old. Set in the aptly named ‘sunshine state’ of Florida it offers a wealth of attractions for all the family. Flights to Orlando are competitively priced and frequent, so there really is no reason to hold off on the trip of a lifetime any longer. Here a few of the top places to visit during your stay.

Discovery Cove

Often dubbed as a tropical oasis, Discovery Cove is a stunning creation not to be missed. One of the highlights is being able to take the kids swimming with dolphins. Although this isn’t the cheapest option for a day out, it’s an unforgettable and a once in a lifetime experience not to be passed. With the help of trained guides on hand there isn’t a safer environment in which you can introduce the little ones to these majestic, friendly creatures. The cove also contains a coral reef, home to thousands of brightly coloured unique fish. The coral is also home to stingrays, sharks and tigerfish, which you can observe with 360 degrees through the glass tunnels that cut through the aquarium.

Harry Potter World

If you’re a fan of the books, films, or both then head down to Harry Potter World for a unique insight into the fantasy epic. The guided tour of Hogwarts is perfect for the children, while parents must sample the butterbeer! One of the best things about this attraction is that it seems to have struck the balance of appeal for parents and children perfectly. The theme park and rides will keep both entrained in equal measure during the day, while the many bars, clubs and night-walks offer the perfect chance for some me-time in the evenings.

Disneyworld

With over 20 themed hotel resorts, two water parks, four theme parks, several golf courses and camping facilities, Disneyworld has something for every budget and family. Open since 1971 it is one of the most visited holiday resorts in the world, and it’s easy to see why. The water parks are great fun (if you don’t mind getting a bit wet!) and with countless dining options, fun classes for the kids and live shows, you could spend countless days exploring this magnificent place.

Orlando offers the perfect blend of family fun and entertainment for adults and this is just a pick of the best. Go and find out everything it has to offer for yourself.

Have you been before?  What would you recommend that we add to our list of places to explore in the future?
