My love affair with Pewter began on trips to Asia many years ago. I now have a number of ornamental pieces and a beautiful pewter photo frame. I’ve also often bought pewter for Christening presents and Monkey received some love examples for his. A bit different from silver which tarnishes so easily. When I was asked if I’d like to review an item from the wide range of gifts from Museum Selection I was immediately drawn to a particular pewter vase – it had my name on it!
The Knox Pewter Vase is made for lead-free English Pewter and is a reproduction of an Archibald Know design from circa 1902-5 . It’s an ornamental piece and is 24cms tall.
I love the Art Nouveau feel to this pewter vase, its elegant and delicate and it’s now taking centre stage in my collection. It’s really nice now Monkey is a bit older to have item on display without worrying about them getting damaged and I’m enjoying looking at my new item from the Museum Selection in our Living Room.
Founded in 2002, Museum Selection is proud to work with various museums and galleries to offer a fine collection of home accessories, gifts and cards, with purchases of these items helping the respective organisations.
We have wholeheartedly adopted the Arts and Crafts philosophy set out by William Morris to ‘have nothing in your home that you do not know to be useful, or believe to be beautiful‘. Taking inspiration from country house interiors and gardens, museum collections and our great cathedrals, our aim is to bring together distinctive and unusual home accessories, jewellery, clothing and gifts celebrating over a thousand years of history, art and design.
As well as my lovely new pewter vase, Museum Selection stock all kinds of gift items – from intricate silver necklaces to cufflinks and ties, to birth month glass tear drops which I adore.
If you’re looking for present ideas and want something a little different, then I can thoroughly recommend visiting Museum Selection. The service is good, delivery is speedy and the quality of the products is excellent.
