Monkey enjoys some Trunki time – Part 1

Monkey enjoys some Trunki time

I’ll be telling you all about our recent trip to Catalunya over the next week.  We had an amazing few days in the Costa Brava and Monkey loved every minute of it.  The excitement began for him some weeks ago when we had a special delivery. Monkey enjoys some Trunki time and Mummy has one less thing to stress about!

When the lovely team at Trunki heard that we would be the guests of the Catalan Tourist Board they knew just what a 4 year old Monkey would need for his adventures.

Being rather dinosaur obsessed at the moment there was really only one Trunki for Monkey – he picked the Trunkisaurus Rex for his ride-on suitcase.  I’ll explain more about the Paddlepak in my second review post tomorrow.

Obviously he had to give his Trunki case a thorough road test before packing it for his trip!

The face says it all!  Monkey loved his Trunkisaurus Rex from the first moment.  When are we going to the airport Mummy?  Are we going today?  The countdown for Monkey had begun!

The Trunki suitcases are aimed at children aged 3 years and over, and most airlines will accept them as hand luggage with dims of 46x21x31cms.  It can be used as a ride-on as modelled above by a nearly 5-year-old Monkey, or you can use the carry strap to pull it along.

Internally, there are two storage areas, one side has elasticated holding straps.  We have found the clip on this a bit stiff, Monkey certainly couldn’t undo it.  But other than that it’s great.  It was large enough to hold Monkey’s clothes, shoes, soft toys for bedtime, toiletries and books for our 3 day trip.

The carry strap has a wrist loop with an identitag included – great for mini adventurers who might take a wrong turn at the airport!  The strap also contains a key so you can lock the case on both sides.  The clasps are easy to release but hard enough that young children couldn’t undo the case accidentally.

With hand grab straps and the carry strap I found the Trunki suitcase easy to manoeuver when I needed to get Monkey through passport control and onto the aeroplane.  It’s also light enough to be able to put into the overhead lockers easily.

The Trunkisaurus Rex has been a big hit with all of us.  Monkey absolutely adores his case, He loved the freedom it gave him when we were travelling, he felt grown up having his own case and loved the idea that he could ride on it or pull it along.  He could do with a few dinosaur driving lessons though!  Watch out dinosaur riding Monkey coming through!

Priced at £39.99 you might think this is slightly expensive, but having used Monkey’s Trunkisaurus Rex, I can honestly say it’s worth every penny.  It comes with a 5 year guarantee and I know we will be getting a lot of use out of this case.  Monkey gives it a massive thumbs up.

I’d planned to show you Monkey making use of his Trunki suitcase at the hotel, but we were up early both days and not back until way past Monkey’s normal bedtime.  So that ides didn’t pan out.  But we are off to Kent (slightly less exotic and certainly colder) in October so I’m sure Rex will be travelling with us then too.

There are lots of accessories you can buy for the Trunki cases as well as toy boxes, car seats and travel pillows – you can see the full range on the Trunki website. You can also keep up to date with special offers and new product launches on their Facebook page.

I decided to buy Monkey the Dino Tote Bag that goes with his Trunkisaurus Rex. I used it to put his clothes in, inside his Trunki case so I could open the case and remove his Paddlepak easily when we were on the aeroplane.  It has a hand hold strap and over-arm straps as well as clips so you could fit it to the back of a seat (it didn’t work with the Vueling seats on our flight as there was nothing to attach it to.  But it’s a great add-on that we will use on our trips and sleep overs over the coming months.

We’ve been so impressed with the quality of the Trunki products and I’d thoroughly recommend for any intrepid little explorers.

disclaimer:  we were sent the Trunki suitcase in exchange for an honest review.
