Monkey is a massive Fireman Sam fan, I think I’ve mentioned before that we have watched The Great Fire of Pontypandy so many times, that I know the script off by heart! We’d recently been invited to a preview of the new Fireman Sam DVD Ocean Rescue and were thrilled when we were asked to review the Fireman Sam Ocean Rescue Playset from Character Online. The timing was perfect for some seafaring adventures.
Look Mummy!! Fireman Sam is on Juno! Monkey is a big Jet Ski fan as Daddy P used to own one and has told Monkey about all of his adventures.
When you unpack the playset there is a little bit of assembly required and you will need 4 x AAA batteries which aren’t included unfortunately. Luckily, I had enough in my supplies to make Monkey a very happy little boy. But I do wish companies would supply the batteries with a toy when they are needed. With Christmas coming up, it just saves on disappointment levels on the big day.
But that aside, once the roof of the Ocean Rescue centre and helipad were fitted and the ramp put in place, Monkey and Fireman Sam were ready to start their Ocean Rescue adventures.
There is a lot of functionality to the Fireman Sam Ocean Rescue Playset which is aimed at children aged 3 years and over.A child is not going to get bored easily with this toy.
The lights flash on the Helipad which can be swiveled around the playset.
You can press the Tower Light to make it flash and sound the siren (note – no volume control).
The Fireman Sam figure has a hole in the base of one of his feet, this can be used to secure him to the platform on the Tower Lift, so he can go up and down without falling off.
You can raise the Fire Pole platform, attach Fireman Sam and watch him swivel round the pole – Monkey really likes this function, although it does stick sometimes.
Once you’ve clipped on the front ramp (the fitting on our’s is quite loose), you clip Juno into place, press the blue button and watch Fireman Sam launch off on an Ocean Rescue mission. Another big hit with Monkey.
Children can play with this set as a stand alone item or play can be extended by purchasing additional sets within the Fireman Sam range.
The Fireman Sam Ocean Rescue Playset is the only Fireman Sam playset that Monkey has, and he has had hours of fun with it. It’s great for his imaginative play. His wooden helicopters have happily landed on the helipad. He’s had lots of fun.
We mainly have wooden playsets so this was a bit of a departure for us. The plastic playset appears fairly robust and will withstand use from a nearly 5-year-old Monkey.
We’d received a set of Fireman Sam Action Figures in our goodie bag from the Fireman Sam Ocean Rescue DVD premiere so these have also had lots of action since coming home.
The Fireman Sam Ocean Rescue Playset is priced at £34.99, which might seem expensive, but there is a lot to this playset and I’ve been impressed by the amount of fun Monkey has had playing with it so far.
disclaimer: we were sent this set in exchange for an honest review.
That looks fab 🙂 We also had the Great Fire of Pontypandy on repeat for about 3 months so I think I know all the words too 😉
This looks such a fun set – ideal for imaginative play! Thanks for linking up with #TriedTested
Looks like there’s lots to do with it, and buttons to push always go down well with my kids!
I love fireman Sam and I’m looking forward to watching the new dvd with my monkeys. Great playset x #triedtested
This does look a fab toy, but I agree with you 100% about batteries. I keep a stock too for this sort of thing #Triedtested
That looks such a great toy! There looks so much to it! x
This looks like a great set that would definitely get loads of play in our house! Shame it doesn’t come with batteries though 🙂
