Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Project 365 – Week 41 – 44

Joining in with TheBoyAndMe and her linky 365 Project  A Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year!  Project 365 – Week 41 -44 Days 278-305.  Illness struck here big style with Monkey having being sick and then later in the week being struck by another tummy bug, all whilst I was laid up with the flu.  Add in a weekend away and before you know it you are 4 weeks behind with your #365 posts – eek!  Bare with me!

Sunday 5th October – Day 278

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44Monkey and I had enjoyed a trip to the Great Central Railway so much in the summer we treated Daddy P to an early birthday trip on their Steam Gala weekend.  Daddy P and Monkey were in their element as we rode up and down the line and saw lots of different steam engines throughout the day.

Monday 6th October – Day 279

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

It was raining so time to test Monkey’s new colour changing umbrella on the way to school.  I had my second sewing machine lesson and finished my tote bag.  Monkey did really well in his swimming lesson.

Tuesday 7th October – Day 280

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Monkey loves Spiderman and was thrilled with his new playmate!  I went to the Opticians, looks like we’ve finally found a multi focal contact lens prescription that really works for me.  Now to wait for them to be made in the US and shipped over.

Wednesday 8th October – Day 281

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

I tried a Jado Chi class whilst Monkey was at school, really relaxing and low impact, so great for my dodgy knees.  After school we did some craft activities and then Monkey grabbed my post it notes and decided to write!  This is a massive step forward for the little boy who has shown zero interest in writing anything.  My freezer and fridge are now plastered in his letters and drawings.

Thursday 9th October – Day 282

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

A busy day!  It was open morning in Reception so I spent an hour with Monkey at school, seeing what he gets up too.  Then I left him and drove over to see a friend who is expecting twins.  They could come any time now, exciting times lie ahead.  A bit of Halloween crafting in the afternoon and then another old friend came over for as curry in the evening.

Friday 10th October – Day 283

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Monkey had an inset day so I decided we should make the most of the good weather and head to Thomasland for the day.  We had the most wonderful day together, he was so well-behaved and tried lots of rides he hadn’t been on before.  It was perfect.  Until that night when he was sick all over my bedroom carpet.  We were up all night.

Saturday 11th October – Day 284

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

All plans cancelled, we were both totally shattered and spent the day in my bed sleeping and watching CBeebies.

Sunday 12th October – Day 285

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Monkey was feeling lots better, but I wasn’t feeling right at all.  I slept until 11.30, Daddy P had sorted Monkey out.  I thought I was just shattered from Friday night but flu was about to come knocking on my door.

Monday 13th October – Day 286

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

I felt awful.  I managed to get Monkey to school before going to bed for the day.  Cancelled my sewing class, picked Monkey up from school and told him I wasn’t up to taking him to swimming lessons – no way I was able to drive.  After I’d fed him I persuaded him to get into my bed and watch CBeebies until bedtime.  Bad Mother I know, but I had a temperature and felt totally rotten.  He was a star, and even took himself off to bed for me.

Tuesday 14th October – Day 287

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

More of the same.  I felt so bad that I had to get Daddy P to come home from work to get Monkey ready for school, take him and pick him up for me.  Monkey looked after me when he got home from school.  More CBeebies in my bed and then Monkey got the runs and the fun really began!

Wednesday 15th October – Day 288

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Daddy P was working from home during the day so he took charge of a poorly Monkey, whilst Brewster kept an eye on me.

Thursday 16th October – Day 289

photo (14)

Yep, Brewster was in charge – nothing else to say!

Friday 17th October – Day 290

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Monkey was starting to feel better – a request for marmite on toast is always a good sign in our house.  I still had no appetite and was shattered but really wanted to make it to Blog Camp on Saturday.

Saturday 18th October – Day 291

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Being the stubborn old mule that I am, I went to Blog Camp with my travelling companion.  I still didn’t feel a hundred percent but it did me good to get out of the house. Lasted the day but was shattered by the time I got home.

Sunday 19th October – Day 292

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Yesterday had taken its toll and I was good for nothing, Monkey was rather quiet all day. but decided to draw us a pirate ship.  We should have gone to a 1st birthday party but I was so glad we didn’t.  After bathtime Monkey had the runs back again, even worse than the last lot.  We were all gutted as he’d been so looking forward to going back to school.

Monday 20th October – Day 293

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Such a weird stomach bug, Monkey was fine in himself, just his bottom that let him down. No swimming lessons or school but happy enough to play.  My car passed it’s MOT – thank the lord.  No sewing lesson for me – aargh, these cushions are never going to get made.

Tuesday 21st October – Day 294

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

We were quite happy to be confined to the house – it was blowing a gale outside and I really thought branches might be coming down at one point.  My day was brightened up by getting into the top 100 on Tots100 – number 97 – woop!  Sure I’ll be out again next month as this month has been a blogging disaster area with all the sickness, but nice to be there for a few weeks.

Wednesday 22nd October – Day 295

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Monkey went back to school, the bug has been doing the rounds from the sounds of it. Brewster spent the day relaxing.

Thursday 23rd October – Day 296

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Practicing writing letters and phonics over the breakfast table.  Never going to stop this enthusiasm!  After I’d walked Monkey to school I dropped Brewster at the cattery and sorted out our packing for our weekend away in Kent.  We had parents evening after school, Monkey is doing really well with his phonics, reading and maths and we need to work with him on his writing.  I’m really pleased with his progress, he’s settled in well and the teacher is happy too.

Friday 24th October – Day 297

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

It’s Daddy P’s birthday.  We’d driven down to St Margaret’s Bay in Kent for our weekend Caravan park review and went out for dinner to celebrate.

Saturday 25th October – Day 298

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

After a good night’s sleep we opened the curtains in the caravan to discover blue sky! Perfect for a day exploring Dover Castle, the White Cliffs and South Foreland Lighthouse. Monkey was having a wonderful day and the weather was just fab.

Sunday 26th October – Day 299

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

A much cooler day which we spent mostly on a local miniature railway.  We’d seen signs for a Battle of Britain memorial and popped in on our way back to the caravan to explore. Plane Mummy!  The staff were lovely and welcoming.  Well worth a stop and it’s free!

Monday 27th October – Day 300

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

Time to say goodbye to the caravan, but the sun was out so we decided to head to Deal before heading home after lunch.  We saw two more castles before heading to the beach. Then the long drive home, collecting Brewster on the way.  Glad we didn’t need to get up for school in the morning – half term awaits.

Tuesday 28th October – Day 301

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

We had a quiet home day, lots of imaginative play in pj’s before swimming lesson in the afternoon.

Wednesday 29th October – Day 302

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

It may have been raining but that wasn’t going to stop us spending the day outdoors with friends at Hill End Outdoor Centre near Oxford.  Monkey was in his element – making mud pies, jumping in muddy puddles and running around in the countryside.  We had a wonderful time.

Thursday 30th October – Day 303

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

We spent the day at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon with Iona from Redpeffer and her family.  The kids loved it.  Monkey this is an engine and this is the exhaust pipes – he was mesmerised.

Friday 31st October – Day 304

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

A chill out day at home.  I’d been instructed that we had to make chocolate cakes for Halloween.  We made spooky cakes but it was a disaster as they wouldn’t peel out of the silicone mould for some reason.  The spooky gingerbread biscuits went much better – bats, spiders, ghosts, pumpkins and no Halloween can be complete without biscuit giraffes apparently.  We don’t go out trick or treating but Monkey decided to dress up as Dracula this afternoon for all of 5 minutes.  I went back to swimming lessons after missing 3 weeks. Tried Butterfly Stroke for the first time – not pretty but I flipping well did it!!

Saturday 1st November – Day 305

Project 365 - Week 41 - 44

We spent today at the Nature Discovery Centre in Thatcham.  The weather great and we went for a couple of walks around lakes and along canals. We saw lots of waterfowl and enjoying being out in the fresh air.  Off to the local fireworks display tonight and Daddy P is actually finishing work early to come with us.

  1. Sounds like you had a really tough time with all the illness. Glad you are all better at last. Love the picture of the pier and also smiling Monkey at the Nature Discovery Centre.

  2. Enjoy the fireworks tonight. Hope you’re all bug free now, that’s awful for you both to be ill at the same time.

  3. Bugs are the worst and I think tv becomes most parents friends at this time. Sounds like a fab holiday at the caravan. Love that photo at the hill end outdoor centre and the one with dad.

  4. gosh its been a busy 4 weeks, you have done lots and lots. Shame the 2 of you have been ill, but well done on making blog camp. The view from your caravan is brilliant. I like the beach picture.
Hate houses with trees to close, you do worry you may get something crashing through

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
