Green Toys Helicopter

Green Toys Helicopter

We’re big fans of the Green Toys range and we are now on our eighth review for them. Today we bring you the Green Toys Helicopter in Green which is aimed at children aged 2 years and over.

Green Toys Helicopter

As with all the Green Toys we’ve reviewed this year, the Helicopter is made from recycled milk bottles, can be cleaned in the dishwasher and is free from BPA, PVC and Phthalates. Even the minimal packaging is recycled too.

The Green Toys Helicopter is available in Green (as seen here) and Blue and comes complete with a little teddy bear Pilot.  As will all Green Toys, there are always lovely little details to be found.  Monkey and I both love the pilot’s scarf and Biggles style goggles.

Both rotor blades turn and there is a hook on the underside of the helicopter for hoisting things (this was an instant attraction in this house!).

Green Toys Helicopter

As we’ve already established in previous reviews, the Green Toys range really is sturdy. The plastic components are not going to snap, you can buy items in this range and know they will last.  Monkey will be 5 next month and he’s still had hours of fun with the Green Toys Helicopter.  It’s been on rescue missions to save his soft toys from sharks and picked up his camera to take aerial photographs.

A great add-on for this toy in my opinion would be a plastic link chain that could be attached to the hook, with some sort of basket so children could ‘rescue’ small toys, bricks etc.  But Monkey’s had lots of fun making his own winches with pipe cleaners and the like.

I was slightly concerned that this type of helicopter may not hold his attention.  He has a big lights and sound one with a battery operated winch.  But sometimes going back to basics actually works wonders.  The Green Toys Helicopter has really fired his imagination and he’s more than happy to make his own sounds – no batteries required!

For £15.99 the Green Toys Helicopter may seem a little expensive. Trust me, if you are buying this for a 2-year-old, and they are still playing with it 3 years later AND nothing has broken; that’s a sound purchase.
