Blowing the cobwebs away

Blowing the cobwebs away #CountryKids

As I’d been unwell the week leading up to Christmas, by 27th Monkey and I were both in need of some fresh air.  We decided to join his Auntie and Uncle for a walk, blowing the cobwebs away around Stowe Gardens.

You’ll have seen me write about Stowe Gardens before, it’s not far from us, and offers a number of different walks and a welcome coffee stop at the end! I was surprised by how busy the car park was when we arrived half an hour after opening time, but because Stowe has a number of different walks you never feel on top of people.

We met up with my SIL and her husband and off we set.  It was cold but dry, so perfect for blowing the cobwebs away and walking off the Christmas feast we’d had over the last few days!

Monkey was kitted out in his Didrikson waterproof trousers and his wellies – perfect for some puddle jumping!

Monkey was happy to stroll on ahead whilst we chatted, he knows his way round, so we left the route to him.

Not surprisingly considering the temperature we didn’t see too many birds on the water.

But Monkey was certainly on a mission as he continued to lead us on our walk.

We did try to get him to slow down long enough to take in some of the views!

We did get to see some lovely Swans, I always find them quite magical to watch as they glide on past.  Monkey loves the tale of The Ugly Duckling, so this little group was quite apt to show him.

As lunchtime was approaching and we were all starting to feel the chill we headed back to the restaurant for lunch and a hot drink.  Can I have a large hot chocolate Mummy?

We’d spent a few hours blowing the cobwebs away, I think he really did deserve his drink. After lunch we headed home for more ….. Lego building!

Time to plan some new adventures for 2015 and the countdown to our stay at Coombe Mill begins!!

  1. Such beautiful photos lovely. I adore these winter days when it’s cold and crisp but dry and, hopefully, sunny. It’s great that Monkey can lead you all around – he’s obviously so happy there. It looks like the perfect place for blowing away cobwebs. Glad you are on the mend. Jealous too you are off to Coombe Milll – how exciting! x

  2. Your photos are fab. It looks like a very refreshing walk, just the ticket for a winters day #countrykids

  3. Looks like our kind of place to visit-I love the reflection shot and Monkey looks to be enjoying his role as ‘team leader’ very much 🙂

  4. Ooh how exciting to be going to Coombe Mill. When do you go? I think N would love it, although it would be home from home, but the OH would be miserable about it because there’d be too many kids around.

We haven’t been back to Stowe again since the last time. Really should go again and get up to the house.

    1. We are there the week leading up to Easter, will be our first proper family holiday (I don’t include trips to my parents!) I picked up the Jan opening times for the house – only 12.30-3 and not on Fri/Sats so not the best timing – I’ve never been in the house.

  5. Love the puddles. Perfectly spaced for maximum fun. Looks like a great place for everyone to enjoy. Nice to share it with family too. I should think he did deserve a hot choc too. Happy New Year to you all.

  6. The post Christmas days are made for lovely family walks like this. I’m so sorry to hear you were poorly in the run up to Christmas, it is a busy time and hard to be unwell. It doesn’t look like it affected Monkey’s fun though and your walk sounds just what the doctor ordered!

  7. Looks lovely but cold! Hope you continue to feel better and also wishing you and your lovely family more blessings this year. #countrykids.

  8. We are staying at home since my son’s school holiday started and we seemed to be grumpy so we also went out for some fresh air at the beach!

Your trip looks so nice and its nice that you are ready for the weather. Monkey is really kitted here! Which is should’ve done when we went out as my son wanted to play with the water but we are not wearing wellies =P

    Happy New Year!

  9. Lovely photos. Looks like Monkey had fun. Great to get outdoors during the Christmas period…you need it after awhile!

  10. Some days you really just need to get outside don’t you? I’ve never been there, looks like a wonderful place for a wander x

  11. It is great to be able to get out in the fresh air after being cooped up over Christmas isn’t it! Looks like Monkey had a great time running about!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
