Berry the Elf

Berry the Elf – our first Elf December! #elfontheshelf

So December is behind us and I’m only just getting to share our adventures with Berry the Elf.  It was our first Elf December, our first #elfontheshelf experience.  I had no idea if Monkey would grasp the whole idea of Berry when I bought him earlier in the year.  But he loved him from the off, to the point I was worried we’d have tears on Christmas Eve.

I didn’t buy the official Elf as I think he looks a bit weird, I spotted our Elf and a book on sale in Sainsburys for £5.00, much cheaper and far more cute and friendly in my opinion.

So here is a photo collage of what Berry got up to during his stay with us.  We did have to give him strict instructions that his nocturnal activities had to be cat friendly as Brewster will try to eat anything!  So there were some limitations and in 2015 I will need to be more organised.

Every morning Monkey would run downstairs to see what Berry had been up to, he totally accepted it.  We had a Berry ‘perch’ where he sat each day watching what Monkey was up to.

On Christmas Eve it was time to let Berry the Elf return to Father Christmas in Lapland. I helped Monkey write a little letter to Santa to go back with Berry.

We then headed off to Church for the Crib Service, when we returned Berry had gone.  But he’d left Monkey a card with some reindeer food and a box of goodies to get him ready for Christmas Day.  There were no tears thankfully, but he was very happy to hear that Berry would be back next Christmas.  Mummy just needs to remember to put him in a safe but memorably sleeping place!

Did you take part in #elfontheshelf?  How did your children react?

  1. Your elf is so much more attractive and cute than the standard one, who looks utterly creepy. Berry elf had lots of marvellous adventures, didn’t he?!

  2. I’m too lazy to do Elf on the Shelf, plus I think the OH would go nuts! He thinks Christmas decorations are too over the top anyway, so next year my priority is to get him to put some outdoor lights round the tree outside.

  3. I do love the elf on the shelf, yours is really cute. Great ideas there and it looks like a lot of fun was had and yes, do put him in a memorable place to save yourself a major panic like I had this time when we couldn’t find our elf day before 1st Dec!!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
