Little Black dress from Planet

You may remember that I visited the Spring/Summer 2015 preview for the Jacques Vert Group towards the end of last year.  I was in need of a dress for a few occasions this winter and the team came to my rescue with a little black dress from Planet.

I decided on the Spot Jersey Dress as I liked the mesh lace detail with three-quarter length sleeves.  Also, I’m a typical pear shape – not much of a bust, small waist, rather large derriere! I thought the ruched waistline would work well.  Not having the best legs in the world, I also liked the length of the dress, finishing just below the knee (103cms).

I don’t know about you, but because of my shape, getting a dress that fits everywhere can be a nightmare.  I’m pretty much an 8-10 up top, but in fitted dresses I often need a 12 for my hips – not a good combination.  Either the top is gaping or it’s too tight down below! Please tell me I’m not alone with this dilemma.  Having looked at the sizing chart on the Planet website I decided to opt for a size 10.  With 96% polyester 4% elastine material in the little Black dress from Planet, I figured there would be a bit of give around the hips.

Delivery was prompt and the dress arrived well packaged with a hanger, and could be worn immediately.

Unfortunately when I tried the size 10 on, it was just too big everywhere.  But the team at Planet were great and arranged for a size 8 to be sent out straight away.  So, it’s probably worth noting that Planet dresses come up quite large on the sizing.  The size 8 is a great fit for me and I couldn’t wait to wear it.

My little Black dress from Planet is really comfortable to wear and I think the shape is flattering so it gives me a bit of confidence.  I also think this dress is quite timeless so I can wear it to a number of different events (that will please Daddy P) but also I feel it’s the sort of dress that someone much younger (or older) than me could also feel comfortable wearing.

I love the waist ruching on one side, it really gives the dress a nice shaping and the scalloping around the bust is flattering to all sizes.  The dress also has a nice V shaping on the back of the mesh lacing for added interest.

The dress has washed well by hand, and using a cool iron on the inside, it looks as good as new.  There has been no loss of shaping and it’s ready to be worn again.

This little Black dress from Planet was priced at £99.99 but is now on sale for £79.99.  I love it and know I’m going to wear it time and again.  I’ve spotted a few bargains on their website too so I might just have to treat myself!

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with a 7 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle.
