Project 365 2015 Week 5

Joining in with TheBoyAndMe and her linky 365 Project  A Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year!  Project 365 2015 Week 5 Days 25-31.

Sunday 25th January – Day 25

Project 365 2015 Week 5

We drove up to see Redpeffer and her family for the day and all visited the new Wonderful World of Trains & Planes in Birmingham city centre.  Monkey loved it, the place has huge potential but seemed very much ‘work in progress’ to me and slightly over priced.  But it was great that the kids could properly control some of the trains and Iona’s daughter got to try out a flight simulator with a trainer which was wonderful.

Our families have become good friends and we owe that to blogging.  The kids all get on well and pizza for lunch is always going to be a winner.  We started to plan some ideas for our holiday at Coombe Mill in March – excited doesn’t cover it.

Monday 26th January – Day 26

Project 365 2015 Week 5

Before school Monkey had a look at the Eden Project book Iona had given him, he seems really keen on it, which makes me very happy, as it’s one place we will definitely be visiting.  I’ve had a nightmare with my sewing project and the pattern sizing which in no way can be for a 5-6 year child.  PMT hasn’t helped with my frustration levels.

After school Monkey wanted to do some crafting with his Aquabeads which was lovely. It seems ages since he’s wanted to make anything after school.

Tuesday 27th January – Day 27

Project 365 2015 Week 5

Nothing like a Monster Truck show before breakfast!  I caught up with some blog work whilst Monkey was at school and then it was the normal mad rush to get Monkey to his swimming lesson after school.  It would seem that he doesn’t want to kick his legs at the moment so we are going nowhere fast – literally.  It was lovely to come out after the class and it wasn’t dark!!  Spring is coming.

Wednesday 28th January – Day 28

Project 365 2015 Week 5

Monkey had nightmares during the night – he slept through them, I wasn’t so lucky.  After being awake most of the night I decided not to go to Jado Chi and went back to bed to catch up.  2 and half hours later – yes, I needed it!

Picked Monkey up from school and we had a delivery from Orchard Toys to review a new game.  Monkey took to it straight away and has been having fun with it ever since.

Thursday 29th January – Day 29

Project 365 2015 Week 5

The morning didn’t start well when I opened a cupboard and a packet of 100’s and 1000’s fell out and went everywhere.  Then Monkey spilled his milk ….. everywhere – aargh.  But this image did make me chuckle.

Iona from Redpeffer came down on the train for the day, and we both enjoyed having a laptop free day.  Even the mobiles got put away.  Monkey loved having someone else pick him up from school but did his normal shy boy routine for a bit.  Then normal service was resumed and he loved waving her off at the train station and seeing a few other trains was a real bonus.

Friday 30th January – Day 30

Project 365 2015 Week 5

More Eden Project swotting up over breakfast.  Last weekends homework came back with a well done from his teacher 🙂  This weekend he has to plan a dinosaur out of junk and then take the plan and junk into school on Monday so he can make it in school.  That would have been great if I hadn’t taken all of our junk into school yesterday!  But never fear, I wasn’t in the Brownies for nothing.  Things have been un-boxed and a plan is in place.  Homework done.  It’s the weekend!

Swimming went well, finally getting front crawl and breathing – yeah! We went to the deep end again, so annoyed with myself.  I was literally one stroke away from making it all the way and panic set in, one of my buddies grabbed me and pulled me in.  Got back the other way fine.  But never mind, the instructor has agreed to continue to make this part of the lesson every week so I can crack this again.  I can see that I’m going to have to always go swimming every week to keep the belief.

Saturday 31st January – Day 31

Project 365 2015 Week 5

We woke up to snow, it was gone by the time we went downstairs for breakfast! I tried to persuade Monkey to go out for a walk but he really wasn’t bothered and wanted to do some crafting activities and try out some left-handed pens/pencils we’d been sent for review. After lunch we got out in the garden and prepared our grapefruit bug catchers (inspiration from Wild About Here).  Then it was time for a bit of running around and then the swing. One happy Monkey.

  1. Its great the friendship you make through blogging. Looks like you have had a nice week.

  2. So jealous of you and Iona going to Coombe Mill soon! Sorry, but I had to laugh at the hundreds and thousands falling out of the cupboard! There couldn’t be anything worse, could there?

  3. Love the photo of Monkey with the laptop. It sounds like you had a good, busy week. I hope you enjoy Eden, we wasn’t so sure about it but we did go when Ethan was very young. I would go again. That game looks like something I might need to get for Ethan x

  4. That Orchard Games box looks great. Perfect for those having started school or just before. Might have to look that one out.

Argh, they’re a nightmare with swimming. One minute fine, next minute nothing. N’s like that with his back star float. Usually won’t go on his back ever. Today kept flipping over to try it. But when told to he refused, even with me supporting him.

Definitely swimming needs weekly. I need to stick to that more with N when it’s holidays.

  5. Love the last photo, such a happy face! Oh no to the hundreds and thousands, they must have got absolutely everywhere 🙂

  6. I hope the grapefruit experiment works out in this weather! And, of course, thank you for the shout out. That’s so fab how you and Iona have become friends from blogging – wonderful when online and offline worlds intersect. And of course Monkey looks like he’s had a pretty fab week.

  7. Glad to hear he is starting some days to want to do things after school and his behaviour has improved on those day.
A laptop and phone free day – that is quite an achievement. Nice to catch up with friends.
Fifi loves model train lay outs and visit a local one when it is on.

  8. Well done on swimming! You will get there; just think of how far you have come since you started! Great photos. The Orchard Toys game looks fab!

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
