Pinocchio – DVD review

The 25th May saw the release of a new adaptation of one of my favourite childhood films – the Disney classic of Pinocchio, through Signature Entertainment.

Pinocchio

This charming tale is told by combining live action with CGI and it works rather well and kept us captivated.  We follow the toy maker Gepetto, played by Mario Adorf as he creates his latest toy – a doll.  Of course the doll comes to life and the adventures of Pinocchio begin.  Monkey loved watching Pinocchio’s nose grow, but he soon realised that this wasn’t a good thing.

Monkey loved Coco the Wood Cricket, who befriends Pinocchio – a modern twist on Jiminy Cricket from the original film. She tries to keep him safe at home but our little wooden boy has other ideas and decides to go on a big adventure.

Pinocchio has some valuable life lessons to learn as he faces the Puppeteer Mangiafuoco and Cat and Fox.  Can he learn in time and really become human?

This new adaptation will entertain one and all, although I found the voice over wasn’t perfectly synched.  Monkey wasn’t bothered by that at all.  The DVD has a PG certification, a running time of 97 minutes and is on sale now for £7.00.  I’ve included my Amazon affiliate link below for your reference.

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with a 7 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.
