The B&W Photography Project Week 62 with PODCast and this week I’m stepping back in time, to a time when there would be a newsagents on a railway platform.
W H Smith don’t seem to have the same stranglehold they did over newsagents stores, that they did in my childhood. Their first train station kiosk opened in Euston in 1848. They just seem so much nicer than the ‘shops’ we have today don’t they.
This one can be found at Pickering Station on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and it was shouting out to be photographed in black and white. I can just see the queue now – travellers wanting the morning newspaper, a packet of cigarettes or a good book to read on their journey.
Great find! It makes it look like it should be back in the olden days in black and white too.
What a lovely find! So different and beautiful.
That looks so quaint!
Wow, what a fab find! You can see that this really is a blast from the past and because of that works so very well in B&W
Good spot!
