I’ve been joining in with Project 365 since the start of 2014, and been inspired by The Boy and Me to make sure I take a Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year! Project 365 2015 Week 42 Days 284-290.
Sunday 11th October – Day 284
I spent the day at Baddesley Clinton with Iona (Redpeffer) and Jocelyn (The Reading Residence) whilst Daddy P and Monkey spent the day with Iona’s husband and son. Blogging has brought us all some lovely friends. We chatted away over coffee, walked and chatted some more. Before we knew it the day was over and I just got home before dark. The boys had a great day out at Kingsbury Park too which was great.
Monday 12th October – Day 285
A day catching up with the washing and other boring stuff. Then off to a friends for a quick catch up over a cuppa before picking Monkey up from school. I had company in the evening as I was working on the laptop, Brewster loves curling up behind it.
Tuesday 13th October – Day 286
One of those surreal days. I dropped Monkey off at school and caught the train to London for a cake decorating event organised by I Just Love It. It was great fun and I got to have a catch up with Carolynne (Mummy Endeavours) and finally got to meet and actually talk to Jacinta (Jacintaz 3) too. All was fine until I realised I had to get back across London on the tube with a rather large cake box. It was going well until the world decided to get on before Piccadilly Circus. Cue mad cake lady shouting at all and sundry to get out of my way. By some miracle all the cakes got home in one piece.
Then legged it to school as they were having a ‘children can show you their work’ session. This was the first time Monkey was going to show me his work and it was magical. He was so proud of his clay porridge pot, and work books. I could really see the difference since the start of term. His writing really is coming on, letter formation is improving and his love of maths certainly comes from his father. He was beaming. I did feel for the children whose family didn’t come, bless them, they were all sat there with their magic hats, pots and books. Wanted to go round them all so they had someone to show off to. These are the times when it rocks being skint, but always being able to be there.
Wednesday 14th October – Day 287
Jado Chi session went well and got a few job done at home afterwards. Monkey had a good day at school, he’d got 3 stickers, but wouldn’t give me any clues as to what they were for. All of a sudden he’s taken to drawing. He’s never been that fuss and I have a mountain of colouring books that’s he’s never touched. But as I cooked dinner he got hold of a pad and pencils and he was off, creating one masterpiece after another. It was lovely to watch the concentration.
We caught up with Granny and Gramps on Skype after their holiday only to discover the Windows 10 update had cocked up our webcam. Grrr, I am never updating anything again, it’s been such a pain in the ****. Anyway, a man in the know has sorted it out for us, so hopefully we’ll be the right way up next week.
Thursday 15th October – Day 288
A day spent catching up with blog posts before picking Monkey up from school. He’d got another two stickers, again no idea what for. We caught up with his best friend and headed off to the local park with him and his older brother. The difference in Monkey is amazing, he runs off happily ahead of me, straight to the ‘big boys’ climbing frame and he’s off. It’s lovely to see my son showing more signs of independence, this term has seen him growing in so many ways.
Back at home and it’s the normal eat me out of house and home before dinner is even on the table. This boy will look like a banana one day.
Friday 16th October – Day 289
I made this jigsaw up last night for a review, but Monkey was fascinated with it this morning before breakfast. The illumination changes colour, he was transfixed. After breakfast we looked at Monkey’s globe. It was time for a geography lesson Monkey style – Mummy where does xxxx racing driver come from? and this one? and Mummy where are all the races from? Well if we can merge our love of Formula One with my love of geography, I’ll be a happy Mummy!
Off for lunch with friends and then it’s nearly the weekend! Monkey had a good day at school and we had lots of fun playing games when he got home.
Saturday 17th October – Day 290
What a lovely day. My nephew was playing football near to us so Monkey and I headed off to watch him. He’s not shown any interest in football before so we had to explain some of the rules to him. Monkey is shy with so many people, even my brother and sister-in-law, but it was lovely to see him begin to relax and enjoy a kick about with his Uncle and his Auntie got a couple of pre-birthday hugs. Sounds normal but that’s a biggy here.
The surprises continued as we headed to a birthday party for a little boy from his year at school. I vaguely knew who the boy was but not his parents. I’d had to pre-warn them that although Monkey wanted to come, he probably wouldn’t join in. Well the boy was full of surprises. They had a bouncy castle in their back garden, and after initial disinterest, Monkey decided to give it a go. My son doesn’t do bouncy castles. Today he spent close to 3 hours on one, without being attached to me, and for a large part with me watching on from indoors. Huge!
