I’ve got a lovely hardback book to share with you this afternoon from Sterling Books, a perfect read with Thanksgiving and Christmas just around the corner. Over the River & Through the Wood is written by American author Linda Ashman, the book has been released in the UK through GMC Distribution.
In Over the River & Through the Wood we follow family members as they travel near and far to reach their grandparents home in time for some holiday celebrations. They’ve all received a special invitation including a request to bring their favourite pies. Monkey’s face lit up at this point. A book involving numerous modes of transport, and food! Immediate winner.
The story is told in rhyming text with some action packed illustrations from Kim Smith. It’s a fast paced read as we follow the disasters that wait for each family as they try to be reunited. As luck would have it, each family is rescued by a kind gentleman with a sleigh ridden by his trust horse. Will everyone get to the grandparents house before the pies get cold?
We’ve both really enjoyed Over the River & Through the Wood, there are a few American English words to be aware of, especially if children are trying to read the story for themselves. But it’s a charming book and will be well read here in the years to come.
Priced at £11.99, I’ve included my Amazon affiliate link below for your reference.
