Disney Pictopia

Disney Pictopia – review and giveaway

A game that everyone seems to be talking about at the moments is Esdevium Games Disney Pictopia.  It’s won 6 different awards this year from the likes of Mum’s Choice Awards and Toy Tests TV Award.  So it was time to see what the game was all about!

Disney Pictopia

Disney Pictopia is aimed at children aged 7 years and over, so we were all aware that this might be a bit challenging for a nearly 6 year old Monkey.  But we said we’d accept the challenge and see how we got on.  You need 2-6 players, but you can also play in teams, with game play normally lasting for around 25 minutes.

Disney Pictopia

The game consists of a game board, 200 picture cards, 6 game pieces with the iconic Mickey Mouse ears, coloured wager cards numbered 1-5 and 6 Mickey shaped answer cards.

Disney Pictopia

The game asks questions that cover all manner of Disney trivia featuring characters old and new, making Disney Pictopia a real family game.

How good is your Disney knowledge?  Are you willing to put down a wager to test it against the other players? If you are feeling confident wage 5 in the hope you can move 5 spaces along the board, but 1 if you’re really not sure.

Disney Pictopia

There are a number of questions that can be asked by the host of each game, depending on the icon shown on the playing space.  Can you be the first to reach the Magic Kingdom?

Disney Pictopia

Monkey struggled a little with this game as an individual player, so we’ve played in teams, ganging up against Daddy P!  The concept of wagers is new to him, but I know it’s going to be a hit.  As his confidence grows, along with his Disney knowledge, I can see Disney Pictopia becoming a firm family favourite, especially during the festive season when we can challenge family and friends to join in too.

  1. My favourite Disney character is Belle from beauty and the beast, in the end she would get to live in a beautiful castle and have rescued the beast from his horrible curse.

  2. I like Elsa from Frozen because I can identify with being insecure. But I also like Belle’s love of books and Rapunzel’s love of art.

  3. mary poppins – because I either wanted her in my life or wanted her life – depending on my age at the time

  4. I always wanted to be Ariel from the Little Mermaid because she has attitude and fire and I always wish I could sing like her

  5. I love Puss in Boots from Shrek. I think he’s really funny but it’s the big-eyes act. It gets me every time.

  6. Woody from Toy Story is my favourite because he’s everyones best friend and he’s my little boys superhero

  7. My favourite character is Rapunzel from tangled she is kind caring, and understanding and a little naive which reminds me of myself but when it comes down to it she will fight for what she believes and holds dear!….. and she has gorgeous hair lol

  8. Tinkerbell ( film :- Peter Pan), I can recall having toys as a child. I think I was thrilled at her being able to fly.

  9. I love Stitch from Lilo & Stitch as he’s first created to be a monster yet he learns to love and wants to be part of a family. It shows a valuable message and I love how cute he is too!! ‘Ohana Means Family. Family means no-one gets left behind or forgotten’

  10. I love Woody from Toy Story as he’s fun but realistic in his outlook, and the kids think Buzz is just the bees knees lol!!

  11. My favourite is Buzz Lightyear because he has been a favourite with all my children over the years 🙂

  12. its Ariel ive always looked at her it total ore, & ever since i was able to dye my hair, its always been bright red i love her to bits.

  13. I like the genie from Aladdin – would make me laugh all the time and you get wishes for an added bonus! 🙂

  14. I love Merida from Brave 1) because she is Ginger and 2) because she’s not the conventional Disney Princess. Plus the film is lovely and has a lovely story about family bonds.

  15. Mickey Mouse, from Fantasia, it’s one of my favourite films and the music and the animation go together so well

  16. It’s a tough choice but I think Buzz Lightyear from Toy Story is up there – he’s noble, brave and endlessly optimistic and a good friend. What a guy!

  17. Balloo from Jungle Book because he is the first Disney character that I remember watching and then watching again and again and again.

  18. Cinderella- this was the first film I watched when I was a child and it made me believe that dreams do come true. My nickname Is also Gingerella because I have red hair and I love Cinderella!

  19. My favourite character is goofy, he is just a loveable character ive been soft in him since I was little!

  20. Aerial from The Little Mermaid because it was the first Disney film I saw and the first time I went to the cinema so it brings back great childhood memories

  21. OOH thats a tough one. I love Pinocchio, i think its fantastic about teaching little one about fibs. My daughter is currently watching it on repeat, each time she watches it, she learns something new.

  22. Mary Poppins because she has the ultimate control over children and gets them to behave impeccably. I could do with with some of her finger clicking tricks sometimes to tidy up!

  23. Ariel from the Little Mermaid. I grew up wanting to be a mermaid and I was gutted when I was informed I couldn’t actually be one. She’ll forever be my fave though.

  24. Such a hard choice but when it comes down to it, I think it probably has to be Woody from the Toy Story films. He makes every film amazing, he has the best one liners, which are so catchy that I even use in my day to day chat…for example “ride like the wind bullseye”…” I’m watching you…so play nice!”, “you’ve got a friend in me”. Ahh it’s just a great film and Woody is definitely my favourite!

  25. Mary Poppins as a kid I always wanted her to take me out for the day lol now I have my own kids I would love her to take them out instead! 😀

  26. It’s Balou the bear from ‘Jungle Book’ because it was the first film I ever saw at the cinema and I went with my brother and my grandad – who’s sadly not around anymore. Balou reminds me of his caring, protective and lots of fun attitude. x

  27. Ariel from the Little Mermaid, because she was the Disney princess I grew up with! Plus, I was obsessed with the sea when I was little 🙂

  28. It’s always been Eeyore, even before I saw any Winnie-the-Pooh films and I just read the books as a child

  29. Belle from Beauty and the Beast, all in all she has the best song in all Disney’s films and also the film has the best songs. But her opening number is song so well, it really sets the film up.

  30. Buzz Lightyear because Toy Story was the start of my grandson and mine cinema trips together and Buzz with his ‘To infinity and beyond’ became our mantra.

  31. Baloo from Jungle Book, he makes me laugh, and when he sings you have just got to sing and dance along with him, hes a breath of fresh air to a boring day

  32. Nemo from Finding Nemo. He is always testing his father and pushing him a little further. Hes adventurous and mischievous which reminds me of my kids.

  33. I am desperate to try this game, I’ve heard so much about it!

My favourite Disney character is Baloo from The Jungle Book because I love the fact he’s funny, loyal and protective yet very lazy!

  34. I love Gisele in Enchanted – she reminds me of myself and makes me feel less alone in my excitable weirdness haha

  35. My favourite character is Mickey Mouse. Why? Because he is the grand daddy of them all and without him nothing else would have happened.

  36. belle from beauty and the beast is my favourite she sees people for the way they are not by the way the look which is always an amazing thing to look up to

  37. My favourite character is Tiana from The Princess and the Frog. I love that film because of the magic, the music and the rags to riches storyline and I really like the attitude of Tiana.

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
