Project 365 2015 Week 51

Project 365 2015 Week 51

I’ve been joining in with Project 365 since the start of 2014, and been inspired by The Boy and Me to make sure I take a Photo A Day, Every Day, For A Year! Project 365 2015 Week 51 Days 347-353. The end of term week!

Sunday 13th December – Day 347

Project 365 2015 Week 51

We took Monkey to the Nene Valley Railway for a Santa Express trip, for his birthday treat.  He loved every moment.

Monday 14th December – Day 348

Project 365 2015 Week 51

Whilst Monkey was at school I spent some time catching up with my niece, who is studying at Birmingham Uni.  He had a lovely lunch and shared news, it’s lovely to see that she’s really enjoying her course.

I actually remembered to take Monkey to have his flu nasal spray this afternoon!  The local Round Table were due to bring Father Christmas round on his sleigh tonight, but it was getting later and later.  In the end Monkey ended up seeing him in his pj’s with boots and coat on as I got him out of bed.  It was worth it though to see his face.  Last year he got a bit scared and we had to watch from the bedroom window.  This year he was outside waving away.

Tuesday 15th December – Day 349

Project 365 2015 Week 51

School play day, well more to the point, the performance we got to see.  Poor Monkey has been asking to take this day off school for weeks, he’d love not to take part in this sort of thing at all.  But on the day, he was fab.  He joined in, sang his heart out, danced about and had fun.  Sods law the only decent photo with him wasn’t in front of us, but under the stage lights.  But that smile was genuine, we were very proud of his efforts.

Wednesday 16th December – Day 350

Project 365 2015 Week 51

One of Monkey’s lost trainers reappeared at school and made it home safely with Monkey’s PE kit.  I’m not sure if having one trainer is actually better than having neither of them.  Where have you gone to right trainer?

Monkey decided it was time to take his birthday cards down so we could start to get a bit festive.  First up was his Nativity Set, he took great care to place all the characters and told me the story of the nativity as he went.  Classic.

Thursday 17th December – Day 351

Project 365 2015 Week 51

We are getting so close to the end of term!  I caught up with a few deadlines so I can enjoy taking a few weeks away from the blog.

After school Monkey and I headed to Kidlington to catch up with the rest of our NCT buddies over dinner at the local Harvester.  We don’t do birthday and Christmas presents, but have done a Secret Santa for the kids since 2010.  Now our numbers have swelled to 9, we were in for a chaotic, fun afternoon.  It’s so lovely watching these kids growing up, all so very different.  Monkey struggled a little to start with, the same old issue of walking into a room where others are already settled.  Then he was fine, running around like a loony with the others until it came to everyone having their photo taken.  He refused and ran away.  I was gutted, I think this is the third Christmas he hasn’t been in the group photo 🙁
But he did get an awesome couple of Secret Santa gifts, one being this Ferrari Lego set – he built it as soon as we got home.

I may have tried and actually failed to finish, the largest piece of Chocolate Fudge Cake I have ever seen in my life.  It was amazing – I don’t need to eat until Christmas Day now.

Friday 18th December – Day 352

Project 365 2015 Week 51

The end of term and Christmas Jumper Day at school.  I got some Christmas food and drink treats in the morning, just the Turkey needed now. I decided to get the Christmas tree up whilst Monkey was at school as a surprise.  He thought we weren’t putting it up until Sunday.  I’d then leave him to decorate it.

When I picked him up from school he wanted to go to the park with his bestie for a bit and then was so excited about decorating the tree I totally forgot we should have been having a Skype session with Granny and Gramps – I am losing my mind!

Saturday 19th December – Day 353

Project 365 2015 Week 51

We have had a day at home, after a lazy start to the proceedings we moved on to some Christmas arts, craft and baking.  Monkey was happy to do the cookie cutting but delegated the decorating to Mummy.  I’m so pleased with my bargain snowflake cookie cutters from Lakeland, best £2.49 I’ve spent in a while.  They taste pretty good too.

I’m really looking forward to the next two weeks with Monkey.  I’ve deliberately kept most of our days free so we can just chill out together rather than rush around the country like loonies.  I’m also slowing the blog right down, I have no posts scheduled other than a couple of photo posts.  I may decide to write a couple of book posts up, I may not.

Enjoy your Christmas and we’ll be back to share our final 365 post of the year on New Years Eve!

  1. Oh wow, Santa Express!!! This has certainly made me smile and brought back memories. I did not know that it was still running. I remember my sister and I being taken to Santa Express when we were children to see Santa at Nene Valley Railway at Peterborough. I will be talking about this later when my mum and dad come down! Now I know that they are still running the one that I went on as a child I will be looking into taking our children next year! I hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy, healthy new year x #project365

  2. There’s a couple of lovely photos of Monkey here. Loving the Christmas jumper too.

Great result at the Christmas show. I know that feeling on group photos. N refuses too -the worst and one I was gutted about was the camping one. 16 kids, only 3 of whom had been there for the whole week including N, and he refused to be in it.

  3. The joy is so evident in his face in the photo of the performance – I love how children come out in their own unique ways for these occasions. Have a lovely happy Christmas x x

  4. Super cookies! I bet Santa Express was fab. Big well done to Monkey for overcoming his fears and doing so well at the school performance.

  5. Oh, you can see from the photo just how much he enjoyed the Santa Express! And, I love the photo of him in his Christmas jumper. Those biscuits look awesome too 🙂 Have a wonderful Christmas, enjoy your break x

  6. Some lovely photos of Monkey this week, he looks so happy in the school play too. I’m so glad it went well. I’m sunny about going into a room where people are already settled. It is only now that I’m getting better with it. Monkey isn’t alone. Have a great break x

  7. Lovely to see him emerging bit by bit from his shell, but a shame he still disappears back inside when you want a picture in a crowd.
I doubt he was the only child seeing Santa with a coat over his pj’s.
Hope you enjoy your couple of weeks off, Happy Christmas, and look froward to reading about it on the 31st.

  8. the biscuits look wonderful. i’m really pleased your son took part in the concert at school, i, even as an adult, hate the build up to things like this and just want to get it over and done with, with minimal fuss

  9. Glad Monkey saw the local Santa on the sleigh. We had a Round Table Santa come around where we used to live.
Wishing you a Very Merry Christmas. X
