Project 366 2016 Week 14 Day 94-100 with The Boy and Me.

Sunday 3rd April – Day 94

Project 366 2016 Week 14

One of those days where I felt awful and ended up leaving Daddy P in charge of parenting for the day. But not before Monkey had attacked me with a spider and a scorpion!

Monday 4th April – Day 95

Project 366 2016 Week 14

Another disturbed night with Monkey but thankfully I still felt more with it this morning, so we headed off to Derbyshire to spend a couple of days with my best friend.  She lives close to Calke Abbey, so after we’d had a cuppa and some lunch we headed over to the National Trust property for a long walk.  Monkey found some sticks, we spotted lots of birds, some frogs/toads as well as deer and ewes with their lambs.  We were so lucky with the weather and all had a lovely afternoon out in the fresh air.

Once Monkey was in bed it was time for a good catch up with my friend and her partner over a few beers.

Tuesday 5th April – Day 96

Project 366 2016 Week 14

We were up bright and early and on a mission.  Daddy P is 50 later this year and I’d planned to buy him tickets to ride on the Flying Scotsman/Tornado at Severn Valley Railway in September.  I’ve been waiting for the tickets to be released to ages, and today was the day.  My friend was on her tablet, and I was on her laptop and my phone.  What a frigging disaster.  The website was continually crashing, I have lost count of the number of times I’d got tickets in my basket but never actually got to pay for them.  When I rang the ticket office first thing, I was referred back to the website – grrr.  Monkey and I headed back down the motorway in the hope I could still secure tickets, but it wasn’t to be.  100’s of redial phone calls later and I still hadn’t got through and all the tickets were sold out.

But we had a delivery from Fisher Price this afternoon with their latest Thomas & Friends Trackmaster set, so at least that cheered Monkey up a bit.

Wednesday 6th April – Day 97

Project 366 2016 Week 14

Monkey and I drove down to Hillingdon to spend the day with one of Dad’s cousins.  She gets on really well with Monkey and I really enjoy her company.  She is also a lovely cook, and I always leave knowing I won’t need to eat for a week.  Her cakes are also rather wonderful, and even Monkey went back for seconds.  After all the feeding up, we definitely needed a walk to a local park to burn off a couple of calories!

Cousin L got her old photos out and we had a good giggle looking at photos of her as a child.  Monkey was most bemused when we found one of her with Gramps as a baby.  The whole idea of grown ups ever having been children has gone right over his head.

Thursday 7th April – Day 98

Project 366 2016 Week 14

After a bit of craft time this morning we decided to go for a walk in the rain.  It was lovely to see the hedgerows starting to come alive with berries and buds.  After lunch we headed over to the Waterside Theatre in Aylesbury to watch a screening of the theatre production of The Railway Children.  I’d bought the tickets a few months ago and we’d watched the original film over Easter.  The screening was excellent and we both really enjoyed it.

Friday 8th April – Day 99

Project 366 2016 Week 14

I’d promised Monkey we could go into town so he could spend the book voucher he won with school.  He wanted a Sir Scallywag book that he didn’t have, so the bookshop ordered it for him.  He also asked if we could buy The Railway Children.  This is another reason I love taking him to the theatre!  I knew the full length book would be beyond him at the moment, but the lady in the bookshop was brilliant, and we’ve now got an Usborne Books version on order too – perfect for 6 year olds.

No trip into town is complete without a visit to the collectibles shop. They’ve got some wonderful traction engines on display, but at a price that’s well beyond pocket money.  But Monkey was quick to spot the familiar Prancing Horse emblem of our beloved Ferrari’s and for a fraction of the price, he walked away with a rather lovely 1952 classic.

In the afternoon we popped in to see how my BIL is doing after his recent hospital stay.  It was lovely to see some colour in his face, and although he still has a way to go, before he’s 100%, he’s certainly improving daily.

Saturday 9th April – Day 100

Project 366 2016 Week 14

Brewster had decided to have a night on the town and I can honestly say I have never seen a wetter cat this morning. Bless him, he was not happy.  We had nothing in the diary, but the sun was out so we decided to head over to Waddesdon Manor for a couple of hours. We had the playground to ourselves for a while, and Monkey was just in his element. The last time we were there the statues were still covered up, the fountains were dry and the flower beds were empty.  It was so lovely to see the place coming alive – Spring is here.

In other news, I got a call to stay Monkey can start Beavers on Monday.  I’m feeling sick already.  I know he will love it, if he would just give it a go, let go of me, relax and join in. Think of me at 6pm on Monday evening!

  1. Good luck Monday – I had similar issues with my girl and Rainbows! I get so annoyed trying to purchase any tickets online now so feel your frustration. Glad the sun came out today – the boy looks happy 🙂

  5. Sounds like a lovely few days in Derbyshire. A pity about the train tickets – as I read that I thought I’d like to do that, but I guess everyone else had thought the same.

  6. What a shame about the tickets.
Sounds like a great time away, and yes it is a hard concept for kids to understand that parents were once babies and children
Aaaahhhh at the sticks, Bob does it and I noticed yesterday Minky has started collecting them.
    Glad BIL is improving.
