Sleeping well with Sleepy People

Sleeping well with Sleepy People

I’ve always struggled getting to sleep, I’ve never really been able to nap, and no matter how tired I am, getting to sleep has never come easy.  My brain just struggles to switch off, so from childhood I’ve always read in bed.  It helps me relax and unwind at the end of a busy day.  But maybe there was something else which could help, maybe a change of pillow would help my situation.  Would I be sleeping well with Sleepy People thanks to their new Pillow Selector?

Sleepy People pride themselves on offering items to help you get a good night sleep – whether it be bedding, a duvet or pillows.  Their Pillow Selector tool asks you a few questions about your sleeping habits and any allergies you may have and then provides a number of suggested pillow types to offer you the perfect nights sleep.  It takes a matter of seconds to complete.

I’ve always gone for a soft feather filled pillow so I was eager to try something different, included in my selection were a couple of memory foam options which I thought would be worth trying.  Would I be sleeping well with Sleepy People?

The pillows did take some time to arrive, so I’m not sure if my selection were just rather popular or not.  But the Silentnight Impress Deluxe Memory Foam Pillow arrived first, it was well packaged and comes in a removable, washable cover.

The memory foam is meant to have an ergonomic contoured shape and is temperature sensitive.  It should help to relieve back pack pain and aching joints and is said to even reduce stress.

This pillow fits perfectly inside a standard pillow case and measures 66×43 cms.

I have to be honest, I wasn’t prepared for how hard and unbending this pillow would be.  It certainly took a little getting used to as it is so different from a standard feather pillow.  It’s not a pillow to lean against in bed when reading a book.  But when it comes to actual sleepability it worked well.  The first night I was a little unsure about it, but I stuck with it and really did sleep well.  I still wish it was a little softer but Daddy P has been trying it out too and he really likes it – and that man needs his sleep!

My second choice from the Sleep People Pillow Selector was the Silentnight Impress Memory Foam Contour Pillow.

This pillow does need to ‘rest’ for 72 hours before you use it.  It also comes with a removable, washable cover and is contoured as you can see in the photograph above.  I love everything about this pillow except for its size.  It’s small, 48×28 cms, so doesn’t fit properly in a standard pillow case.  I’d presumed the ‘medium’ in the description related to how firm the memory foam would be, but clearly not.

The pillow itself feels softer than my first option and I’ve slept like a log for the last couple of weeks using it, but I can’t get my head around the size of it.  Yes, it’s large enough for me to sleep on, but it bugs that it doesn’t fit inside any of my pillowcases properly.  It’s a shame, otherwise this pillow would get a big thumbs up from me.

What kind of sleeper are you?  I’m a side sleeper, Daddy P is a back sleeper which I find strange.  It takes all sorts.  Why not try the Pillow Selector for yourself and see what options come up for you!
