Storing memories with Dust & Things

Storing memories with Dust & Things

I hold my hands up, I am a bit of a hoarder.  It’s a family thing, my Mum, Uncle and Auntie, we’re all rather similar.  I’d like to think I was on the lower end of the spectrum, but my spare room tells a different story!  I’m sentimental and being the historian of the family, I like to record moments in time.  I’m conscious that being an older Mum, I may not be here to share moments with Monkey and his family in years to come, I certainly miss not being able to talk to Daddy P’s Mum.  So I’ve been storing memories with Dust & Things, putting thing aside from our adventures, things for Monkey to recall in the years ahead.

Storing memories with Dust & Things

Dust & Things is a small family business offering bespoke customised gifts.  So the perfect place to look for something a little special for a wedding, anniversary or birthday.  I’ve been storing Monkey’s keepsakes in a cardboard box, which really hasn’t filled me with inspiration, and isn’t particularly nice to look at.  When I looked through the Dust & Things website I found some really love Memory Boxes – ideas for birthdays, christenings, even a Christmas box (noted for future reference).  I knew I’d found exactly what I was looking for, Monkey would finally have a decent memory box.

The ordering process is very easy, select the name you want to appear on the box and the second line of text you would like shown.  I went for Monkey’s name and ‘Adventures and Memories’ as my text, you can also add a hidden message to the base of the box (this is extra).  I went with the year. You really could add anything, to personalise this box for all sorts of occasions.  For £29.95 I love the idea of it.  Delivery was prompt (delivery is free worldwide!) and the box was well protected when it arrived.

The wooden memory box is approximately 28 x 21 x 14cm and comes with a chrome latch and hinges.  It’s the perfect size to store all manner of memories, from awards and certificates, things made at school as well as mementos from our adventures throughout the year.

Storing memories with Dust & Things

I really love the idea of this box from Dust & Things, and it’s been great fun for Monkey and I as we decide which items we should treasure for the future.

Storing memories with Dust & ThingsThe clasp is easy to undo, which Monkey likes.  He’s spent ages decided what he’d like to keep from our adventures over the last few months, and has already been pulling faces at the things Mummy would like to treasure on his behalf! We really do love this box, can you tell.  It’s well made and the engraving is well finished.

If you are thinking of getting someone a gift that’s a little different then I can certainly recommend Dust & Things.
