Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19 Day 122-135 with The Boy and Me. From ice cream to cocktails and a lot of fun in between.

Sunday 1st May – Day 122

Project 366 2016 Week 18

Daddy P was shattered so we opted for the easier option of my ideas for the day.  That was meant to be the Abingdon Air Show, which isn’t far from us.  A short car journey and meant Daddy P didn’t have to get up too early.  Unfortunately there was no advance warning telling us the A34 was shut southbound.  Cue 2 hours of nose to tail traffic before we finally arrived.  We enjoyed ourselves watching tanks and planes, and of course bank holiday weekends call for ice cream don’t they!

Monday 2nd May – Day 123

Project 366 2016 Week 18

With an ominous weather forecast we decided to spend some time indoors and headed off to the Coventry Transport Museum, which is well worth a visit and it’s free.  After having lunch in the city centre we headed over to the Cathedral to explore the ruins.  Monkey was fascinated with this tomb.  The St Mary’s Guild Hall next door is well worth a visit, and again, free.

The weather turned as we decided to head home, just as the torrential rain started.

Tuesday 3rd May – Day 124

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

Back to school and this little chap wasn’t happy about it in the morning.  Thankfully he’d cheered up by home time and we had some fun together before bedtime.

Wednesday 4th May – Day 125

Project 366 2016 Week 18

A good session at Jado Chi in the morning sunshine and then home to finish the final detailing on my Cross Stitch at last.  Now it just needs washing, pressing and then I’ll be taking it to the framers on Friday.

I started an online meditation course in the evening.  It’s for a review and is a month’s course.  It was a little bizarre if I’m honest, so we will see how the rest of the sessions pan out.

Thursday 5th May – Day 126

Project 366 2016 Week 18

What a glorious day!  Sunshine all the way saw me in a short-sleeved top for the first time this year.  I even took my coat off on the school walk this afternoon, that’s rare for me at this time of year!

The garden has really been neglected but we have a few splashes of colour, including the first blooms on one of my clematis.

Monkey had fun after school with a few things we’d been sent for review.  He made a whole different game out of one of them as this video shows.

Friday 6th May – Day 127

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

What lovely weather!  I spent some time enjoying the sunshine and then got on with tidying up the garden.  We have a tree which will shortly be covered in these lovely yellow flowers.

I picked Monkey up from school and we got straight on the motorway.  We were going to be spending the whole weekend with my best friend in Derbyshire.  The traffic was fairly horrific and we were very late arriving.  Monkey did really well and was just so excited to be seeing my friend.  He went out like a light and my friend opened a few cold drinks for us – cheers.

Saturday 7th May – Day 128

Project 366 2016 Week 18

We were up bright and early and headed out for a long walk from the village of Calke, along the Staunton Harold Reservoir.  The day started quite hazy but soon the sun was shining down on us.  Monkey walked for miles, only complaining when he was hungry. I was so proud of him, he really does love being outdoors and walking with him is a joy.  My friend was very impressed with him.  But all the best walkers still need to take a break don’t they.

Sunday 8th May – Day 129

Project 366 2016 Week 19

Today was a scorcher, we were up bright and early again and decided to walk to the church at Breedon on the Hill.  You can see it clearly from the A42 and I’ve passed it for years wondering what it was like to stand at the top of the outcrop looking down.  Monkey loved the walk, and was happy to lead our expedition.

After lunch we headed home and thankfully the motorway traffic was considerable better.

Monday 9th May – Day 130

Project 366 2016 Week 19

Monkey and I were both tired after our busy weekend and he really didn’t want to go to school.  I wasn’t needed in class this morning, so headed home for a power nap!

After school it was time for Beavers and after a false start, he took part in his Beavers Investiture.  He was beaming with pride as were Daddy P and I watching him.

Tuesday 10th May – Day 131

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

The rain is certainly back today.  I caught up with some work and admin whilst Monkey was at school.  He came home and fell in love with our latest delivery – a Dinosaur that’s also a screwdriver and tape measure.  What’s not to love with that!

Wednesday 11th May – Day 132

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

We’ve had more unsettled nights this week with nightmares.  Monkey is always as bright as a button in the morning, not like his mother.  This morning saw him playing a game by himself whilst I got dressed.

We caught up with all the news from Spain in the afternoon after school.

Thursday 12th May – Day 133

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

The sun returned for the day.  My Mum’s Brother and Sister were staying in Henley and they drove up so spend the day with me.  I took them to Waddesdon Manor for a few hours and we enjoyed a delicious lunch in their restaurant.  My Uncle walked to school with me to pick Monkey up, much to both of their delight.

The rest of the afternoon was spent with Monkey being the teacher with my retired headmaster Uncle and retired head of languages Auntie being the students.  It was hilarious.

Friday 13th May – Day 134

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

Finally got round to arranging our car hire for Portugal, airport parking and insurance. The holiday countdown can begin.

Doesn’t this look like it should be a bottle of perfume?  I’m off to my friends for the evening tonight with my NCT group.  An evening of cocktails (this is Raspberry Liqueur for my Raspberry Bellini’s) food and laughter awaits.  I’m seriously hoping I don’t disgrace myself as I rarely drink anything other than the odd glass of wine these days.

Well the night went well, we all laughed so much, great friends really do lift the spirits.  I loved the Raspberry Prosecco Bellini and French Martini, it was also lovely to acquaint myself with my old buddy Mojito.

Saturday 14th May – Day 135

Project 366 2016 Week 18-19

My friend and I got a taxi home not too long after midnight so Daddy P could go to work. It probably saved us from feeling totally like death later.  Monkey slept in til 7.30am – good son!  I actually don’t feel anywhere near as bad as I thought I would.  Laughter is certainly a wonderful tonic.  The sun has been out for a bit, so we got out in the garden and planted up our sunflowers at long last.  Let’s hope the slugs don’t eat them all like last year.

We watched the F1 quali together and then Monkey asked if he could go to work with Daddy P for a bit. One call made and off he went.  Now do I have a cheeky snooze …….

  1. Well done, Monkey, for becoming a Beaver. The embroidery is very pretty. Love the photo of Monkey in the fields. That tomb looks fascinating

  2. A busy couple of weeks, nice to be able to get out with old friends. Good job Monkey on his investiture and sleeping til a reasonable time. I’m terrible after only 2 glasses of wine and a late night. Can happily go dancing and stay up til 1pm, but bed at 12 after a glass or 2 and the next morning I really feel it.

  3. I think it is nice that museums and other local places of interest are free, feel more people visit them and then more willingly spend money in the shop and cafe making them money anyway.
Shame about the long motorway trip but at least he is old enough mow to amuse himself for a while.
Well done on getting invested at the Beavers, and I really love the plant growing in the pattern like that, very impressive.

  4. The climber on that building is very impressively manicured and maintained! Great work on the Beavers promise, I keep meaning to enroll The Boy but always forget!

  5. What a busy couple of weeks! Love the path through the bright yellow field and the ivy (?) on the side of the building. Also love the sound of raspberry bellinis 🙂
