I am NOT a Dinosaur!

I’m sticking with a prehistoric theme today.  This morning saw me talking about Dinotrux toys and this afternoon I’m sharing a prehistoric delight in the form of a great, factual book. I am NOT a Dinosaur! is another great find from Sterling Books, which is written by Will Lack and illustrated by Jonny Lambert.

I am NOT a Dinosaur!

Monkey has learnt so much about the prehistoric world both from school topics and Andy’s Prehistoric Adventures in CBeebies, and I am NOT a Dinosaur! gives him a factual guide to some of his favourite creatures.

I am NOT a Dinosaur!

We visited the Natural History Museum again in London recently, and Monkey was thrilled to find a Woolly Mammoth on display, and just as excited to discover one in this book.

The illustrations throughout are just lovely.  Through rhyming text we are introduced to a wide range of animals, from ocean faring Dunkleosteus and Latimeria to airborne Pterosaurs.

I am NOT a Dinosaur!

Even Neanderthal man gets a mention, along with some rather well known dinosaurs.

At the back of I am NOT a Dinosaur! there a few facts about each animal along with a timeline placing each animal mentioned into the relevant prehistoric time period.

About Over 40 and a Mum to One

I'm a Mum in my late 40′s with a 7 year old son. I had a busy life in Export Sales before my Monkey came along, but decided to become a stay at home Mum once he arrived. Now I enjoy writing my own family lifestyle and travel blog. sharing the adventures that we have as Monkey makes his journey through school. We have a cat called Brewster who makes appearances and I’m a mad Ferrari Formula 1 fan, so that expect to hear about as each season unfolds. We love reviewing toys, games and books and would love the opportunity to look at anything that fits in with our family lifestyle. We are always out and about and offering an insight on the places we visit, with a passion for nature thrown in for good measure. If you like what you read please leave me a comment, I love to hear from people, and always try to reply. Enjoy the read.

  1. I just love dinasaur -so many different types and each one is fescinating could explore these everyday as I find them fascinating

  2. I was always fascinated by the sabre-toothed tiger as a kid, so that’s my answer, even though we’re not supposed to call it that any more.

  3. I love dinosaurs …. i love helping my kids learn about the different types and what they ate, etc …. We also love “The Good Dinosaur” film 🙂

  4. My daughters favourite is the Stygimoloch, she watches the dinosaur train and learns so much about dinosaurs from it

  5. I love the dinosaur as there was so many different types big and small and very interesting creatures

  6. Pterodactyls. They were clever but fierce big things and I’d have loved to have seen them flying around.

  7. Dinosaurs because they have become an enduring part of world culture. The large sizes of some dinosaur groups, as well as their seemingly monstrous nature, have ensured persistent public enthusiasm for them.

  8. I have a soft spot for the giant prehistoric shark – the Megalodon. Sea creatures often get overlooked but they are just awesome.

  9. I always loved the Diploducus, I always thought it was cute when I was younger, with it’s tiny head

  10. Which is your favourite prehistoric animal – dinosaur or other, and why? . . . . .Diplodocus . . . . . .simply because it’s such a fun name

  11. Apatosaurus! Because of the movie Land Before Time where there is little foot known as a long neck. I was obsessed with it when I was younger and would watch is all the time!

  12. Not my favourite, but most fascinating to me is the Cockroach; they say that it is one of the oldest surviving species.

  13. The diplodocus. With that long neck and being a plant eater it seems to be jayden’s fav. He says it doesn’t eat people!

  14. The trilobites are my favourite prehistoric animal, i could spend hours looking at all the fossils in Wales National Museum, love the knobbly beasties

  15. the Pachycephalosaurus because they charged at people with their heads and it reminds me of my little boy as a toddler charging at peoples legs haha

  16. The Woolley mamouth. I don’t know whether or not its to do with my love for the Ice Age films, but they look like such fantastic creatures x
