Protect your scooter with Scoot Lock

Protect your scooter with Scoot Lock – review and giveaway

As Monkey’s confidence grows I can him leaving me behind more and more.  It’s all part of growing up, and with that growing up, he’ll need to take more responsibility for his actions and possessions. I’ve been talking to a few Mums at school about how to protect your scooter with Scoot Lock and it’s a handy little device we’ll be using too.

We live a short walk from school and it would be nice for Monkey to scoot there and back when he fancies.  It would be even better if I don’t have to carry it there and back once I’ve dropped him off.  We needed a secure lock that he can use for the bike sheds at school. Something that will be easy for him to use and that he can’t lose! The Scoot Lock ticks all the boxes.

When you receive the lock, it comes in two parts, with screws, washer, spacer pads, screw cap and instructions.

We have a Maxi Micro Foldable Scooter, which has a wide stem, for smaller stemmed scooters and bikes you use the rubber spacers to secure the Scoot Lock around the stem. They weren’t required for Monkey’s scooter.

Assembly is easy, takes literally seconds and can be done by one person.  Place the two-part lock around the scooter stem, with the holes on the side of the smaller part facing down.

Then place a metal washer on each of the screws and use the allen key provided to screw into place.

When secured, click the screw cover in place.  Should you need to remove the lock at any point, you just push the allen key in the holes on the underside of the lock and it pops out.

You set your own lock combination by pressing in the small white button on the righthand side of the lock, keep it pressed in and set your code, then release the button.  Should you have not completed this process correctly you won’t be able to lock the cable into place. (Yes that was me, first time around).

Once you’ve set your code you are ready to go.  When you want to secure your scooter, whether it be in a school bike shed, to a tree or a lamp-post, you release the cord by pressing the large button on the righthand side, and pull as much cable as you need.  Make sure the lock is showing your combination, wrap the cord around the secure post/tree and push the cord in on the other side of the lock.  Then change the lock combination, so others can’t release the scooter.

The cable is 90cms long making it easy to wrap around all manner of secure objects.  The lock itself is available in 5 different colours – black, blue, pink, green and red, meaning children can coordinate.  Monkey’s new Scoot Lock is a perfect match for his scooter.

When it’s time to scoot away again, just put in the correct code, and by pressing the button on the left-hand side of the Scoot Lock, the cable will be released and can be retracted by pressing the large button on the righthand side.

No keys, and for me the most important thing, the lock remains on the scooter, so Monkey can’t misplace it.  With winter approaching ever quicker it’s also worth noting that the Scoot Lock badge on the front of the lock is actually reflective. It’s so easy to protect your scooter with Scoot Lock, and I feel much happier about Monkey scooting on ahead without me now.

  1. It would be between red or black to match my son’s scooter, probably the red one. I love the look of these and I think it’s great that they’re attached to the scooter so you don’t have to carry it around with you xx

  2. I would give this to my niece for her birthday, she cycles into London everyday for work, and worried about her bike. I think she would like a bright red one please

  3. I have bought my son a scooter for Christmas, so I would give him the lock, and I would choose a blue one.

  4. I would choose pink & I would actually use it to secure my wheeler walker to the train when I am travelling as I have mobility problems & people like moving it around on the train!

  5. My son..blue..he recently locked his scooter up in broad daylight in a public place and somebody stole it and the lock…he needed it as had a ruptured a achilles tendon and struggled to walk long distances….a complete stranger replaced his scooter as An amazing kind gesture so many terrible people in this world but always lots of lovely people too xx

I'd love to hear from you and try to reply to all comments
