Monkey and I have recently been reading The Inventing Tubes by Bryony Supper. It’s a newly published picture book from Matador Books, and is the first in the series of A Pasta Kidz and Petz Adventures. The books are aimed at children aged 4-7 years of age.
In The Inventing Tubes we meet Sarah Spaghetti and Marc Macaroni as he introduces her to The Inventing Tubes. These are magical coloured tubes that can sing and create all sorts of things. When Marc makes a Pastaball with The Inventing Tunes, Sarah wants to learn to make one for herself. A ball that will score goals all by itself.
Now Sarah Spaghetti is a little like our Daddy P, not a great one for reading instructions before jumping in! Instead of inventing wisely, she’s created a mad Pastaball that cannot be tamed.
The Pasta Petz are needed, and it’s not long before the Pastamobile arrives carrying Spud the Spaghetti Horse and Mumbo the Macaroni Dog. The pastaball explodes and Sarah learns that the magic inventing tubes don’t like cheats. A valuable lesson learned.
But the friends help each other and with Marc’s pastaball they soon discover that Sarah is rather good at football. This is a simple, funny tale and the illustrations from Julian Bray help to bring the characters to life. We’ll be interested to see what adventures are to come.
Priced at £4.99 I’ve included my Amazon Affiliate link in case you’d like to meet the Pasta Kidz for yourself.
