WILF Books book subscription service – review and giveaway

It’s so exciting seeing Monkey develop his reading skills and watch him move through the reading bands with his school books.  He’s also, finally started to show a little interest in reading his own books to me, rather than the other way round. It’s never been that he hasn’t loved books, just the effort of reading them for himself.  We recently discovered the WILF Books book subscription service and I thought it would add the element of surprise to our book reading.

Wilf Books book subscription service

The WILF Books book subscription service is a little different from others we’ve heard of. With this service not only do you receive new books each month, but you have the opportunity to recycle new unwanted books.  You give some guidance of your child’s preferences – picture books, moral, fairy tales and rhyming books for example.  We requested a mixture.  Select the age and sex of your child, along with any specific interests and confirm their full name.

In each monthly package the child receives a minimum of 3 gift wrapped books and a personal note from WILF the Elephant. There’s also a sharing chart included so you can track any books you decide to share.  A freepost envelope is included with each consignment.  You’re under no obligation to share any books, but if like us, you have books that just didn’t click, it’s nice to know that someone else might get to enjoy them.

Monkey loved his note and the thrill of opening his packages – he received 4 books.

I was really intrigued to see what Monkey would receive, especially as we could probably rival our local library with the amount of books we have.  So what did we receive?

Wilf Books book subscription service

A really good fit of books actually.  We have The Twits as an audio book and Monkey loves it.  We’re actually going to see the stage performance in Aylesbury next month, so this is perfectly timed for bedtime reading.  Being a cat friendly house, we’re going to enjoy reading about Phil & Lill’s adventures – cats we’ve not come across before.  Having a Hedgehog House in the garden, we are both looking forward to reading The Hedgehog, another great fit for Monkey.  The final book, Captain Cook’s Favourite Book we do already have, but it  is one of Monkey’s favourite books, so a good fit.

If you receive any books you already own, just let WILF Books know, return it in the freepost envelope and you’ll receive an extra book in your next month’s delivery.

The WILF Books book subscription service has given us to chance to try some books we’ve not heard of before as well as exploring the work of some much loved authors.
