Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year 2017

I still don’t know where 2016 went but Happy New Year 2017!  I hope you all have a wonderful year.  I’ve never been a great fan of New Year’s Eve if I’m totally honest, and I don’t make New Years Resolutions.  But I’m looking forward to continuing on with my photography course later this month, and getting our living room sorted out.  Painting and flooring decisions await.

Monkey goes back to school on Wednesday, I think by then he’ll be happy to see his friends again.  Although we’ll both miss the more relaxed starts to the day.  He’s got a busy few months ahead at school before we head towards the SATS, but no matter what their outcome I’ll be super proud of him and all he’s achieved already.

We’re off to London next Saturday for some fun at an event and then I’m hoping we might do a little sightseeing, before we head back home on the train.  The weather may well be the deciding factor on that one. We’ve also got a theatre trip booked with friends for later in the month, which I think the kids will love.

We’ve got no holidays booked as yet.  My parents are coming over for a week at the end of May to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary so we’ll be concentrating on that for the time being.  I’m tempted to book something for Monkey and I to have as an adventure in the summer holidays but we will see.

As I head into my last full year in my 40’s I’ll be trying to make a little more time for myself, away from the laptop, out of the house.  Not something I’m always particularly good at, but the intention is there.

2016 was full of fun and adventure, lots of laughter and so many memories made.

Happy New Year 2017

From adventures in the snow, to fun in the sun in Spain, Portugal and even Cornwall, we certainly got around last year.  There were new toys to test and books to read and lots of places to explore. Precious time spent with my Monkey son, that I wouldn’t change for the world.

So it’s a Happy New Year 2017, a new year and time to reflect a little on those that left us in the last 12 months. Thankfully we haven’t lost anyone personally lately, and fingers crossed that status remains the same for the months ahead.  We seemed to lose so many famously talented people in 2016. David Bowie, Carrie Fisher, George Michael, Gene Wilder, Alan Rickman, Prince and Victoria Wood in particular, had all been heroes of mine growing up.  The world sparkles just a little less brightly without them in it.

I have no idea where the blog will take us this year, there is no fixed plan, which is rather unlike me.  Although the ‘blog silence’  over the last week had more to do with Monkey being ill rather than being planned, I’ve realised that it’s not the end of the world if there isn’t a post on the blog every day.  I’m sure you’ll forgive me too.

Anyway, I’ve got a Roast Duck to sort out for our New Years Day dinner and am looking forward to the last few days with Monkey before school restarts.  So I wish you all the best for the year ahead, thank you for your support in 2016, and I hope you continue to follow our adventures in 2017.
