Project 365 2017 Week 6-7 Day 36 – 49
Sunday 5th Feb – Day 36
After a rather stressful week, a quiet family day was in order. We finally got to order our carpet and flooring and just need to organise fitting dates. The fitters want completely bare floors when they arrive so I set Daddy P to work removing all the carpet grippers and trims which were all nailed into concrete. One more job completed and means apart from moving furniture, we are ready to go.
Monkey had plenty of play time. We reviewed this Candy Construction set so long ago, but it’s still a favourite. He’s always creating something new, apparently this is a line of tanks.
Monday 6th Feb – Day 37
I’d had a trip to Oxford for the day booked with my friend L for ages, and it really was perfectly timed. We had thick fog here first thing and I was glad we were catching the bus to Oxford. But as the day went on the fog cleared and it was really quite a pleasant day for wandering. I’d got some Yo Sushi vouchers and we thought we’d try it out, a first visit for both of us, and we both really enjoyed it. We did some shopping and then went touristy, popped into the University Church of St Mary the Virgin and saw that we could climb a tower. Love a spontaneous moment! Look what we walked out to once we got to the top.
Monkey had a special event at Beavers in the evening and I was really proud of him.
Tuesday 7th Feb – Day 38
I got on with some blog work in the morning and then headed into school in the afternoon for a special Fossil Museum event that the kids were holding. We got to see what the children have been learning about fossils this term, along with fossils they’ve made in plaster. Monkey received an Achiever of the Week award last week for his lino printing project, and I finally got to see his work on display. He was full of it all, and you can clearly see that all the children really enjoyed this term’s topic.
Wednesday 8th Feb – Day 39
You can’t start the day without a bit of dinosaur roaring at the breakfast table can you?!
Thursday 9th Feb – Day 40
I had a catch up with my friend H this morning which was long overdue. Then back home to get the washing mounting sorted before I disappear to Spain. I’m really not a fan of February, but it does make me happy when I see Snowdrops and bulbs sprouting in the garden. Spring is coming, and I cannot wait.
Monkey had his late school session and the girls came over for curry night, our first of the year.
Friday 10th Feb – Day 41
Monkey was up a lot in the night with earache, and ended up in with me. I didn’t get a lot of sleep but by the morning Monkey seemed fine and headed off to school. I went home, sorted out my packing and headed over to my brother’s house. We were Birmingham bound, to catch our flight to Spain to see Mum and Dad. We left Birmingham in the snow and arrived at Malaga to pouring rain.
Saturday 11th Feb – Day 42
A picture with Mum. It was so good to be in Spain with her and my Dad. Her recent TIA has been a shock to us all, and there’s nothing quite like being able to see them in person. We popped to a town close by to look at some low salt options for her, before grabbing a coffee and going for a stroll. The rain had given way to sunshine.
Sunday 12th Feb – Day 43
The storm clouds were brewing so Mum and I went for a little stroll around the edge of the village to get her daily exercise quota done. Oranges and lemons grow in the gardens and the village is surrounded by olive trees.
In the afternoon we went out for tapas with friends to a bar I’d not been in before. The food was delicious and it was lovely to catch up with Spanish friends and to thank them for the support they’ve given my parents over the last few weeks. The heavens opened, just like being back in England!
Monday 13th Feb – Day 44
I always hate saying goodbye to my parents but I did well at the airport and kept the tears in. It was easier knowing they will be staying with us in May, and that Mum is on the right meds and has promised to make a couple of changes. May will be here before we know it.
Heading home to my boy. This was the first time I’ve ever flown without him, and the only time I’ve ever been away from him really is when I’ve stayed in London for BritMums. It was so lovely to be back with him, having cuddles and catching up on his news.
Tuesday 14th Feb – Day 45
I was shattered after the last few weeks, so we had a leisurely start to the day before heading into town. Monkey needed a haircut and we had a few errands to run. We treated ourselves to lunch and I looked at my little companion, he seems to have grown both in stature and maturity these last few days.
Wednesday 15th Feb – Day 46
We spent the day with my ex MIL, catching up and having a lot of laughs as usual. For lunch we headed to the newly refurbished Pizza Hut. It all looked rather funky, and got Monkey’s seal of approval.
Thursday 16th Feb – Day 47
We had another lazy morning before cracking on with Monkey’s homework. I did balk at the idea of him producing a Powerpoint presentation, but relented as I wanted to see if he’d be happier typing than writing. It was less stressful all round, but not helped by the fact a number of the markings on the letter keys have disappeared. Stickers ordered.
After lunch we headed over to friends for a few hours and Monkey and C played with Bunchems, trains and Lego whilst L and I chatted.
Friday 17th Feb – Day 48
We had a lovely time exploring Evenley Wood Garden, I can see Spring is on the horizon.
We got home to see that we’d have new neighbours arriving across the road. Let’s hope they have fewer cars than the people moving out. We live on an estate made for one car families of the 1990’s. With most houses now having at least 2 cars, parking can be a total nightmare.
Sat 18th Feb – Day 49
We’ve spent the day with Emma from Bubba Blue and Me and her son N. We met them at Stowe just after it opened. It’s the first time our boys have properly met, and they hit it off straight away. There were a number of different half term trail options available, but they decided to do their own thing. Map in hand off they ran, and we got to enjoy both of lakes on this visit.
Whilst we were having lunch at the cafe Monkey asked if N could come back to the house to play. Luckily Emma didn’t have any plans, so more fun and games were had here. It’s been a lovely day. I think the boys will both sleep well tonight.
It must have been such a relief to see your mum! I’m glad she’s doing OK.
I love your photo from the tower in Oxford and how lovely to spend time with Emma and N. It’s great that the two boys got on so well together.
Yes I really needed to see her for myself and my Dad too x
I think the lino prints are absolutely beautiful! Well done to your boy on creating them. #project365
Thank you
You seemed to have crammed a lot in your this fortnight, glad that your mum is,OK, must’ve been lovely to see her. Monkey is certainly growing up, powerpoints, are a lot less stressful!
LOL and there was me thinking we’d had a really quiet time. Thanks re Mum x
That’s a lovely view from the church tower in Oxford, great photo. Love the snowdrops too, it’s so nice when the first signs of spring start to appear.
Thank you
glad you had a good visit with your mum and it won’t be long before they come to visit you, hopefully the new flooring and carpets will be in and you can relax after all your hard work
Thanks, lots more to do but it will have to wait a while now.
I had to smile to myself with your hopes for the new neighbours – we have on street parking for a row of houses and it’s always fun when new people move in with their 3 or 4 vehicles!! What a lovely pic of you and your mum – so glad to hear she’s on the mend and May will be here in the blink of an eye.
Thank you, parking is just grim isn’t it x
Result that the new neighbours replace the nightmare ones with multiple cars. It’s certainly tight for parking round by you (totally different to us – just pull up and park wherever you fancy!). Hope the new term starts well
Yes and yesterday there weren’t that many cars around. Doesn’t help that our driveway isn’t the best either.
Must have been so lovely to see your mum especially after the scare.
Love seeing snowdrops! Definitely means spring is round the corner!
It was really lovely
Glad seeing your mum has helped to give you some peace of mind. Spain is not far away but too far at times.
Would love to have oranges growing where we could pick them, only fruit I can eat raw.
Bob has one game that we were sent to review a few years ago he still plays with every time he is here.
Glad your Mum is recovering well.
We have the same problems with parking in our road. It’s pretty much a single track road so people park partly on the pavement.
Construction kits are great for imaginations!
