Project 365 2017 Week 13 Day 85 – 91

Sunday 26th March  – Day 85

Project 365 2017 Week 13

Mothers Day and I felt awful, told Daddy P to cancel the lunch reservation and headed back to bed for most of the day.  I didn’t get to appreciate the flowers I’d been given until later in the day.

I did get to watch the Australian Grand Prix highlights later in the evening.  First race of the season and a win for Ferrari.  I’m hoping this is the start of a promising season.  Time will tell.

Monday 27th March – Day 86

Project 365 2017 Week 13

Dropped Monkey at school and headed over to see my brother and family for a couple of hours before coming home to sort some chores out.

With the clocks going forward yesterday Monkey struggled this morning but the thought of a junk modelling project at Beavers involving eggs soon perked him up.  This was the view at 7pm as I walked to pick him up.  Monkey was full of beans when I arrived, not only had to got another badge, but his lodge won the challenge.

Tuesday 28th March – Day 87

Project 365 2017 Week 13

It was such a lovely sunny day today.  I cracked on with some work before heading out to buy some compost so I could make up my Herb Garden.

After school we had Monkey’s parent teacher meeting.  So proud of what he’s achieved this year.  He’s firmly in the ‘expected’ level now and just needs to work on his speed.  His teacher said some really lovely things of where she envisaged him to be in years to come.  Lovely to have such positive news.  It’s been a long road.  We got to look through his work books and Daddy P got to see the lino printing Monkey had won an award for.  In fact, I hadn’t seen this second set of work.  He loved this project.

Wednesday 29th March – Day 88

Project 365 2017 Week 13

Dragonese Day at school and a HUGE day for Monkey.  The boy who has always refused to dress up for school wanted to dress up as Hiccup.  I can’t tell you what big step forward this is.  I wrote about it earlier in the week and even the author Cressida Cowell thought he look great when she saw his photo on my Instagram feed.

In the afternoon parents were invited into school for a Dragonese quiz.  It was wonderful to see a hall full of 6-8 year olds who had clearly loved this term’s topic.  Just fab.  Our team only lost by one point too.

Thursday 30th March – Day 89

Project 365 2017 Week 13

A smashing start to the day as I broke 3 plates that fell onto and smashed my glass worktop saver before they bounced and smashed on the floor.  Grrr. Of course everything is discontinued, but I’ve managed to secure 2 plates via eBay and a similar saver, which my niece is picking up from Dunelm for me.

A late night preparing for my photography class tomorrow as it’s the end of term exhibition.  My enlargements didn’t arrive until lunchtime, thankfully the mounts I had from Stage 1 work ok with the new shots.

Friday 31st March – Day 90

Project 365 2017 Week 13

Never let a 7-year-old have a clock in their room with an alarm function on it.  I hadn’t got to bed until 1am and then got woken up at 3am by a strange noise.  Noise traced to Monkey’s bedroom where his alarm clock was shrieking. He didn’t bat an eyelid.  Eventually I managed to prise the battery out.

After the school walk I headed to college to show my prints and look at my classmates work.  My friend N popped in to see everything, which was nice.

Monkey has had some Daddy time after school which sees them both disappear into the garage to play with trains.

Saturday 1st April – Day 91

Project 365 2017 Week 13

A chilled out lazy start to the day, before we had lunch in the garden and Monkey went on a bug hunt.  My friend L picked us up in the afternoon and we headed off to Waddesdon Manor with her and her son.  The boys made dens and played with sticks and we all enjoyed cakes and ice creams from the new The Treaterie in the Stables complex. I can thoroughly recommend the Salted Caramel Tart.  We then discovered a part of the grounds none of us have ever explored before and ended up admiring the views across to the Dairy, before heading back to the car.  A quick play date at home ended a rather perfect afternoon.

  1. Ahh! My girls struggled this week with the clocks changing….It sounds like your boy is getting on fantastically well at Beavers. Great to hear.
Dragonese Day at school sounds a lot of fun! What a great outfit!
hahaha! I’ve been there before when the kids have set their alarm clocks!

  2. A busy week. Well done on the plate front – handy having ebay. Monkey’s certainly going from strength to strength. That’s what I’m hoping for with N in year 2. He’s improved lots this year but he’s still got a long way to go.

  3. My absolute favourite photo is Monkey dressed up as Hiccup!! Such a great costume and I am so glad he enjoyed it. #365

  4. Your photos look fabulous all mounted up! I love the one of the giraffes.
Monkey looks amazing in his Hiccup costume. It sounds like he’s doing so well at school. You must be so proud 🙂

  5. Isn’t it nice when teachers give good feedback? Sure Monkey deserved it!
Lovely selection of photos for your exhibition. Well done on your progress.

  6. Love the Hiccup costume! What is it with children and loud alarm noises at night? My girl slept through a wailing smoke alarm in her room when she was a baby! Your photos are looking great.

  7. what a shame about Mothers Day being spoiled, but then at least you got to spend the day in bed.
Great to read he is finally settling into school and enjoying it enough to want to join in. He looks amazing, just as well you had the stuff to dress him up in.
